The Seattle Mariners and the Oakland A’s will wrap up their three game series today as both teams fight for the Wild Card in the American League. The A’s have taken the first two games in the series. First pitch is scheduled for 2:35pm Central Standard Time and the game can be seen on National Television on the Major League Baseball Network. It will take place in Oakland, California. The A’s are very small favorites at -111 and the over/under is 8.5 runs.

The Mariners now find themselves 4.5 games back of the Division leading Houston Astros and 3.5 games back of the A’s in the American League Wild Card race. Starting pitcher Mike Leake will head to the mound this afternoon to try and turn the ship around. Leake is 8-7 on the year and has an ERA of 4.11. He has made five consecutive quality starts that have gone at least 6 innings while giving up no more than 3 runs.
The bats for the Mariners have been the strength of the ballclub this year though. They have the 5th best batting average in all of baseball and are led by Jean Segura today who is batting .309 on the season.

The A’s will counter with Brett Anderson. He is just 2-3 on the year and has an ERA of 4.53. Anderson has only made 10 starts this year and has struggled with some arm trouble but is healthy now.
Unfortunately for the A’s today, they don’t have anyone in the starting line up that is batting over .280 and that give Mariners starter Mike Leake the advantage. I like the Mariners today to bounce back and finish the series with a win.
