War Huh, Good God Ya’ll...What Is It Good For, Looking At The Markets

Hailing a “new era of peace”, North Korea leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, sealed their talks on Friday with a joint declaration, and a bear hug, reaffirming their commitment to complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

The historic summit also agreed to push for three or four-way talks involving the US and China to replace the Korean armistice with a peace treaty.

That being said let’s see how the world is reacting to this great news.

        ——PRECIOUS METALS——

(Kitco News) - Gold prices are slightly higher in early U.S. trading Friday, on a modest corrective bounce from selling pressure that drove prices to a five-week low overnight. A solid rally in the U.S. dollar index this week is still squelching buying interest in the precious metals. June Comex gold futures were last up $1.10 an ounce at $1,319.30. May Comex silver was last down $0.026 at $16.465 an ounce.

       ——CRYPTO CURRENCIES——

Bitcoin is moving in the tight range of $9,000 over the last couple of days albeit strengthening trader’s sentiments. It increased slightly 5% today, up almost 50% since the start of this month. The rest of the digital currencies are also making small sideways moves today. Ripple (XRP) and Ethereum (ETH) are in the green today after spending the majority of time in the red in the last two days.

         ——STOCK MARKET——

U.S. stocks were unable to hold initial gains and held near the unchanged mark. After rising nearly 8 percent, Amazon.com Inc shares pulled back and were last up 4.85 percent after its quarterly earnings report. And yields on U.S. Treasuries dipped for a second straight day in the wake of data on the strength of the economy.

         ——OIL PER BARREL——

The highest oil prices in years are increasing expenses for companies that had grown used to low energy costs since crude’s 2014 tumble. In response, some companies are looking to pass on the costs to their customers, which would push inflation higher. That, in turn, could slow growth and weigh on an already vulnerable stock market.
