Hump Day Hundreds #5 - Engelhard Poured This Time... For Real!

in #steemsilvergold6 years ago (edited)

Some of you saw my previous post about a 100ozt Engelhard bar that I bought expecting a poured bar but received a pressed/struck bar.

Spot price was still in a reasonable place and I had a few bucks to store away... as physical wealth. So I bought another 100ozt Engelhard bar, this time from a dealer that actually sent what he advertised.

Here's a pic without the hand.

Saw this piece on my feed and had to take a double look at that serial number. At first I could see the C. That is a great example and is worth sending photos into www.allengelhard.com to get it registered on the site. I haven't checked to see if they have a C prefix variety. I am sure if they do it's not that low of a serial number. Congrats on the buy. Nothing like poured Engelhard!!! @sbsparts

That's a gorgeous Engelhard bar. That's the kind that I'd love to get. One of these days. Yeah, one of the first things I noticed about it was that it had C0000000000000000000739. Ha ha. That's pretty darn low. Maybe @silveringots can help you find one in sequence with it. :)

Also, congrats, @summertooth!

Massive, simple design and a low serial. What else could someone want?

Big bar. Several years ago I planned to make a 23kilo (the weight was important) cast silver sculpture so I started collecting silver. I was living in Tokyo at the time and you could just walk into a store and buy kilo bars of silver and gold. I got several kilos from a store called Ishifuku. It's sealed in bubble wrap. However in my collecting I got enamoured by various Japanese and Chinese coinage and started spending money on that. The rabbit hole got worse and worse after that. haven't done the sculpture yet as I have run out of cash. Fortunately there is a Bell-maker less than a kilometer away. I plan to get them to do the casting. Not many of them around

So you're going to have a bell made out of your kilo bars? Is that right? How many kilos did you end up collecting. I don't have many Kilos... Thanks for the interesting comment.

No it will be a sculpture not a bell. It's is just that this is one of the few foundries around. I have about 13 or 14 kilos. As I said I got caught up in old coins and bars. Ended up moving onto stuff throughout the world til I went bust and the money stopped :P.

Awesome low serial number poured 100 oz Engelhard! A treasure for sure! Congrats, @sbsparts! That is one great find!

dang that is a LOW number congrats

Beautiful Engelhard bar!

Tampilannya bagus ..

Terima kasih

What kind of metal is this.

What kind of metal is the silver bar that has "999+ Fine Silver" stamped on it? We're going to have to do some research on that one.

What can I say, it's a gift! ;)

Thanks bro for info

I'm glad we could clear things up!
