Gothic Styled Stacking : Silver Shield’s Fiat Nevermore

A lovely Gothic theme Silver Round inspired by an American Literary Icon Edgar Allen Poe.

This Christmas I received a most lovely gift from my Stacking mentor 'Punkys Dad', he purchased it from @phelimint this 2018 Fiat Nevermore. Brilliant Uncirculated, save for a few unfortunate milk spots is a Round that was high on my wish list. My earlier effort to acquire one in either Proof or BU from the Golden State Mint was thwarted by a traumatic $54 USD shipping expense just for One Round at the time but revised to $24.55 as of this posting. It was just too much.

The Obverse depicting the Raven with a flaming banknote in it’s beak perched on a Skull.

And so the Stats, everyone likes stats;

  • 1660 total mintage in BU Silver and of that 629 in the Proof version
  • 511 in Copper Bullion
  • Made by the Golden State Mint and made available on June 4 to 11 2018
  • 39.3 mm Diameter
  • 3.2 mm thick

The Reverse featuring the beautiful Silver Shield design stating the year 2018, weight of 1 Troy oz. in 0.999 Fine Silver.

And about "Nevermore" The Raven

For those not familiar with the Classic poem by Edgar Allen Poe, as excerpt...

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more.”

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Nameless here for evermore……

To me this rings of a perfect literary Poetic art form that thrills me!

Perhaps one of the most familiar Icons of those in Gothic persuasion are usually well read of this American Literary Writer, editor and critic Edgar Allen Poe. And while his biography reflects what seems to have a much troubled life in Irony shines quite a brilliant insight into Mystery, Madness and the Macabre in the human psyche. Best known for his short Stories and credited in giving rise to the Detective Fiction genre and as a contributing writer to the emerging science fiction genre as well.

In 1845 he published his most famous narrative poem, ‘The Raven’ and was received with much success that established his place in celebrated American literature. The original Front cover in 1845 The Raven and other Works

Oooo weee!!! You were showered with lots of shiny stuff.... You deserve it, SIS!!! Only the best for you! Awesome silver, great article and photos. You are always so artistic! Have a beautiful day, my lovely sis, @kerrislravenhill! And the only quote from Egar Allan Poe that I remember... and so appropriate for me the past days... “Leave my loneliness unbroken” from The Raven

Sis, I am inundated with gifts and GAW prizes this season mostly YT, gotta get organized.
Local Canadian high schools don't include Poe on their required reading, only as an option and you could guess what I'd pick as my optional reading. Spooky stuff, Horror, and above all...Poe for my Romantic reading aside from those pulpy Historical Romance novels.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore.
Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the Nightly shore —
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

So tasteful and cultured a Gentleman to quote me the Eighth Stanza of The Raven.
Is it hot in here or am I suddenly feeling frisky?

Thank you for dropping by.

Thanks for having a Look, Stacking with Gothic Style but more importantly each silver Ounce I stack, each Crypto I accumulate is a personal Protest and NO to the current corrupt economic and power system.
The Theme of this silver round encapsulate exactly that in my style, "Nevermore!"

Great post as always Kerris and a great round as well.👍

The BU is a very nice 'filler', I may be just tempted to get the Proof Version if I can get a good price.
After all, I'm pretty much a Poe Fan.

$54 to send to Canada!!! What a rip off. I am glad you managed to get this as a gift in the end.

That was the Shipping quote to send ONE coin to Canada on June 2018, Chris Dwayne (the former Car Salesman, now Silver advocate) claim to sell his coin series at only a few buck above spot. (Only if you lived close to the Mint) I assume the coin will be accompanied by a Brinks Guard? I tip my hat to @phelimint for at least carrying the BU version.

Very cool! I somehow missed that round but really like it now that I've seen yours!
