Where I buy gold and silver in Europe ?

This post gives examples of relatively cheap reliable German internet dealers, talks briefly about MA coin shops site and last but not least shows one of the German sites that compares all prices on a coin by coin basis and let's you go directly to the dealer of your choice.

As I focus on bullion purchases in EU countries I do not talk about the US dealers nor the many specialized high premium mints we have in Europe. I focus on German dealers as in my experience these are cheaper and have more products than other country's dealers.

Bullion you best select via the comparison site : www.gold.de. However not all dealers are on here and shipping cost is for inside Germany.

Out of a list of gold and silver coins I selected Chinese Panda (gold) and the screen then looks like this:

The whole list consists of some 30 dealers but I show the top rows only as these are the cheapest. As you have to open an account with the dealer where you make a purchase and you do not want too many accounts I myself work with two of the bigger dealers who tend to be high on the list each time. Payments via IBAN are free of charges and after payment the shipment takes place which is often started within one day after the transfer. There are some slower ones.

So then what is MA coin shops?

MA coin shops is a search and order tool for a large number of (traditional) coin sellers (or LCS) for which you only make one account and you can order with each dealer via the site so no extra account with that dealer. However the type of coins are mostly numismatic (incl. ancient Greek and Roman coins) and if you find bullion it is not cheap at all. But looking at gold coins of Macedonia of over 10K EUR or more is also fun. Some US based specialist dealers are also participating.

Disclaimer: Maybe I overlooked better alternatives and a local dealer may ship quicker but as I said this is where I get my gold. If people want to I can share Dutch and Belgian dealers as well.
