Early Life
He was born in a Muslim family in New Delhi, spent first five years of his life in Mangalore. His paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad was ethnic Pathan from Afghanistan. Shahrukh's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar.
Acting Career
He started his career as a TV actor, his first starring role was in Dil Dariya, by Lekh Tandon, nut due to production delays his other TV series called Fauji became his debut instead.
He played the role of Abhimanyu Rai, in the series Fauji which depicted a realistic look at the training of army cadets.
He played many roles on television cinema, before he came to the bollywood.
Bollywood Career
Khan changed his decision to act in films. Some say he came to Mumbai, to escape the grief of his mother's death. He moved from Delhi to Mumbai and started his bollywood journey. He got four movies very easily.
His first movie was for Hema Malini's directorial debut Dil Aashna Hai, and by June, he had started his first shoot. His debut was in Deewana, which was released in June 1992. In it he starred alongside Divya Bharti as the second male lead behind Rishi Kapoor. Deewana became a box office hit and launched Khan's Bollywood career.
He got the Filmfare for Best Male Debut award, for his performance.
Villainous Roles
He got the most appreciation for the villainous roles he played. He made box office hits, played an obsessive lover in Darr, a murderer in Baazigar.
Darr was Shahrukh's first big project, as it was a movie by Yash Raj Films, and he collaborated with the famous Filmmaker Late Yash Raj Chopra.
Romantic Hero
He is well known as a romantic hero and a charmer.
The first of which was Rakesh Roshan's melodramatic thriller Karan Arjun. Co-starring Salman Khan and Kajol, it became the second-highest-grossing film of the year in India.
His most significant release that year was Aditya Chopra's directorial debut, the romance Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
He played the role of Raj, Non-resident Indian (NRI) who falls in love with a girl during a trip across Europe.
This made his image of a romantic hero, and he became the most wanted amongst the ladies.
His movie "Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge" showed in a theatre Maratha Mandir for 1000 weeks everyday.
This movie made him a legend.

The movie which changed the lives on many and was a blockbuster hit in all over the seas.
Khan began shooting My Name Is Khan (2010), his fourth collaboration with director Karan Johar and his sixth with Kajol. The film is based on a true story and set against the backdrop of perceptions of Islam after the 11 September attacks.
