Wine Review - Jacob's Creek Barossa Signature Shiraz 2015

in #steempub6 years ago

This is a bottle we picked up a little over a year ago, except then it was the 2014 vintage. This time we found a 2015 bottle had managed to get into oi ur shopping basket. So we took it home, and drank it!!

We didn't realize we had had a bottle of this ine previously, but the was something familiar about it. It had the signature juicy plumb flavour, with a touch of vanilla oak, and hints of chocolate. It was pretty good.

The tannin was fairly smooth, and kept its balance of fruit and spice through a well-rounded finish.

Retailing anywhere from $15 to $23, if you can get it at the bottom price, you've done really well.

We scored this one a 3.5 out of 5 (Mrs MJ was leaning towards a 3, but it held up well on the second glass). Looking back at my vivino app, I scored the 2014 exactly the same, so it's quite consistent between both years, although I wouldn'tmind picking up another 2014 to see how well it goes down now.

Overall, a good wine. Not great, but excellent value for money, and with a decent structure to get your tastebuds working.

Cheers!!

Is consistency between years a good thing or bad thing?

Consistantly bad wouldn't be very good I suppose. It all comes down to how well the vines are looked after, and how the seasons affect the grapes, and therefore the wines. Consistently being able to cultivate a good crop, and very similar wines from year to year is probably a good thing, I would think.
