SteemPh, Project Alinaga and the Cookie Lady: "Cookies for a Cause"

in #steemph6 years ago (edited)

The heart of the matter is CHARITY

After posting in Facebook our September initiative "Music and Arts" with some 90 kids with special needs in Manila, a few of my friends have verbalised of wanting to help out. One of them is Kuya PJ aka @pjmisa , he was one of my first recruits from Facebook to Steemit. A few days prior to him posting this cause, we have been chatting back and forth on how we were going to proceed in this fund-raising. As his heart was set on helping our Project Alinaga, we are targeting the possibility of providing cookies for another Project Alinaga that may happen next month, in one of these dates on November 20-25th. It will be a training for Music and Arts to a combined number of 200 Education students with out of school youth in La Salle College, Cavite.

Cookies for a Cause is a fund-raising for a new oven where Kuya PJ will be donating to @steemph Family's future activities, not just Project Alinaga, in and outside Metro Manila. This includes deliveries to @steemph.cebu, @steemph.iligan and @steemph.davao whenever one of the Family is having an activity that will benefit from this cause. From what I can gather, anyone who will donate 25 steem and up will receive these cookies before Christmas.

Who can refuse chocolate chip cookies?

Our target is more or less $300, this to cover extra contingencies that may occur. Any donations can be forwarded to @steemph please and specify for this cause. Kuya PJ prefers this as he doesn't have accounts in any exchanges. Digital monies are still difficult for him but at least he have heard of bitcoin. Lastly, Kuya PJ is the cookie lady, just to be clear.

Kuya PJ have a little son and lives near a school. I think he is almost retired with a lot of time in his hands. There might be an income for him in this as he is already in talks with the head of the school about his cookies. I hope he is not planning to give them all away.

For this cause, a close friend of mine in the US have pledged a $200, her gift for Christmas to our beneficiaries and I hope we can deliver.

This from sharing my Steemit posts in Facebook. It really feels nice and warm to receive offers like this. So guys, post in Facebook and in all social media, you'll never know on who can you touch with your posts especially when fund-raising.

We will start small...

Looking back when @steemph was just being formed last July, even before we launched in August, all of us in the Core have this mantra, "We will start small and we will go from there." All we have was a VISION, that one way or another, we will bloom and achieve our aspirations to help a lot of less fortunate Filipinos in the Philippines. Our number maybe small then, but in 3 months, we have grown. In and outside Steemit.

Personally, i believe that each individual have that wanting to help other people. It is inherent to everyone of us. It won't be always that we only think of ourselves. Everyday, in some corners of the world, there is one person or a few in need. Let's "Heal the world and make it a better place".

Now na.

ADDENDUM:

For our volunteers going to Norzagaray this October 29th, it is postponed as Marlon aka @flabbergast-art is not well right now. Apologies for the inconvenience.
