Walk of Hope Update : Bamboo Planting and more innovations in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, Philippines

in #steemph6 years ago

For those who have no idea about this project, Steemit Philippines is bringing one of our charity initiatives MUSIC & ARTS to the underpriviledged Filipinos in Visayas and Mindanao. Marlon aka @flabbergast-art have been heading this initiative since last year in Manila, doing one-day events in Caloocan City for some special kids and in Cavite City for some education students and out-of-school youth.

This time in 2018, this charity initiative have been a full-time, all-out charity for almost everyday which commenced last March 31st in Dumaguete City. From then on, Marlon have been having full days schedule of meeting the local government in Bayawan City, performing in the streets, at the stage and since last week, have been doing ARTS workshop to out-of-school teens, producing bamboo innovations for the livelihood of the people in Bayawan.

For anyone who have been following me, you probably have seen the BAMBOO BIKES (bambikes) being produced in Bayawan City. Did i say that the frame itself costs about $500??? This without those attachments to complete a whole bike.

More bamboo innovations

Doing some finishes on the final product.

A wind chimes created by a musician.

I requested Marlon to take a video of these wind chimes but so far, i am still waiting for one. Panaad Festival is ongoing folks, bamboo crafts is the highlight from Bayawan city.

Remember those musical instruments made of bamboo? There is one more.

Who plays the FLUTE?

I wonder on how much these costs? Am sure they are not that expensive. Marlon said they need QUALITY CONTROL.

Perhaps someday, they can be exported.

Bamboo planting on the 24-25th of next week

What we didn't realise was that, bamboo harvesting takes 3 years. And although most bamboo needed for their crafts are harvested in Bayawan City, some came from another town.

Has anyone seen a BLACK BAMBOO?

They don't have them, but regardless for our bamboo planting next week, these were to replace the harvested bamboo for their ongoing workshops and handicrafts.

Accordingly, this kind is from Japan.

Some of the funds raised were for the bamboo planting, and the rest were used for the materials that Marlon used for his workshops. The payout for this post will go for his future workshops and another project is in the pipeline.

Donations can be forwarded to @steemph or @walkofhope, the latter is the account I personally handle for this #walkofhope project or any of my team once it is up and running.

In lieu of Steemit Philippines' mission TO PROMOTE THE PLATFORM THROUGH IT's CHARITY INITIATIVES.

That's great, these people's really work hard, doing job well, and that's a real life, well also good job done by you @immarojas, becouse I like your social msg for us from these people's, thanks for sharing with us.

You're welcome..all credit go to @flabbergast-art

maganda po ito ate.. uu nga ang mahal pa ng frames.. 25k..!!! worthit nman eh..

Yes..but not a lot can afford it.Perhaps when they are massly produced, it wont be that expensive.

uu nga eh.. nagulat din ako sa price.. pero pag tiningnan mu nang malapitan yung pagkakagawa gaya nung organza na nasa simbahan.. prang coated siya ng special resin..pero too expensive parin just for frame.. hehehe

Thought fiber glass was used the reason it's heavy-duty, durable and expensive.

I know how they process at kung pano mag apply ng mga treatment and sanding sealers..

Yes but never heard un sea water process..

That't great, this is good job, it would be helpful for art students they have a chance to learn something.this charity will prove helpful and people will enjoy from it.This type of charity would be held in everywhere.

Definitely..it can be adopted worldwide. Can you imagine on what scale this would be?
Thank you!

No I have no idea But anything by which someone can learn is good. That's why you are doing great job.
