Steemmonsters - Join for the Community!

in #steemmonsters6 years ago (edited)

Anyone looking at my blog would see @steemmonsters galore. I have my fiction stories inspired by Steem Monsters. I have posts written by others that I’ve resteemed because my way of thinking is, why write when others covered the topic expertly?

To date, I have yet to write a post on why I am such a HUGE fan of @steemmonsters. I received a surprised gift today from @doomsdaychassis and will take this opportunity to thank him and share my thoughts on Steem Monsters.

This awesome gold Skeleton Assassin card is now mine thanks to @doomsdaychassis!

I’m not a gamer! Why should I play?

Neither am I!

Matt (@yabapmatt) is one of our team's biggest supporter on here and when I found out on his Tech Talk - Steem Blockchain Integration post that he is the co-creator of @steemmonsters, I bought the starter pack and a couple booster packs to show my small support. I already support him as a witness because I see his community support to others so of course I would show my small support to the game.

That is how I started, but not the reason why I am now a huge fan!

If anything intrigues me, I start researching the topic. So the research began. @yabapmatt has his Tech Talk series where he takes us into his developer’s mindset. Some details are too techie for me, but I do grasp the gist of his game build. I admire his passion and dedication to building a decentralized game on the Steem blockchain. The game is not simply his or aggroeds’, the game is a part of the Steem community. Steem Monsters support many different interests, not simply gaming. It is the community on here that is shaping the game into the success story it will soon be on the STEEM blockchain.

Are you a success story?

By this time, I’ve realized many factors must come into play for users to become a “success story” on Steem. Are you a video content producer? Were you invited into an exclusive community? Who do you know? Not my cup of tea to play the game for success. Many probably feel the same way given the churn rate on here.

As I looked more into Steem Monsters , I realized I liked many aspects of the community. Although the concept is a game, you don’t have to play the Steem game, if you know what I mean. I’m not a blogger and will never be one. I will never get into video because I value my privacy. Just an average user of Steemit, as are most of you.

Many of us have never blogged before discovering this site. We post about our interests and discover our own reasons for coming back day after day. I post 1-2 times a week so my whooping payout is definitely not my reason for being here.

So what is left?

Here is an opportunity for many average users like myself to have fun playing a game on the Steem blockchain and be able to earn Steem/SBD and card XP points from the tournaments sponsored by Steem Monsters. It was recently announced that communities could also sponsor their own tournament and prizes. Double win for us average users.

Community for All

I love that you don’t have to be a gamer to be part of the @steemmonsters community.

Steem Monsters has something for everyone. Are you a writer? Are you an artist? Join the weekly contests put forth by @steemmonsters. The community comprise of writers, artists, voice actors, video content producers, musicians, developers, investors, and of course, gamers!

Average users like you and me can now be involved in a community that is welcoming to all. You don’t have to own all the cards to play the game. The cost of entry is not steep at all. Simply purchase the starter pack and a summoner card to enter the tournaments. There will be different tournaments for all card levels. Game and tournament rules are still to be determined, but I have faith the game will be friendly to all player levels. More so now that Matt's idea is to enable communities to sponsor tournaments.

Acts of Generosity

Together-_Friends-_Unit-_Community-_Friendship-3408314.jpg

The friends I've made here is my reason for coming back.

Some of you may know that I won the character story contest for the Skeleton Assassin. Since the character will be part of the Steem Monsters' story, I wanted the gold Skeleton Assassin to add to my collection. I haven't been collecting gold cards because it is out of my price range, but this one I want for sentimental reason.

As it turns out, this one common card is highly valued in the Marketplace. Of course, the only gold card I want.

@doomsdaychassis knew I wanted this card and bless his heart, decided to buy the card for me. I'm torn between wanting to chastise him for paying the inflated price and wanting to hug him for his kindness.

All because I sent him his first booster pack many months back. He finally decides to join the fun! About time!

Thank you DC! You get my favorite hug giphy. 😊

A Community of Giving

If you check out the hashtag #steemmonsters, you will find many acts of sharing and generosity in the Steem Monsters community. You will see Steemians gifting cards and booster pack(s) for joining their DLive show or entering their contests. Even my teammate @mellofello host a couple NFL block pool contests a week with cards and a booster pack as the prize. All free to enter.

Still not late to join the fun!

Matt is working diligently to have the game officially released. Per @steemmonsters' update, card stats will be released in a couple weeks. Game rules will soon be published.

Teams are forming! It's still not too late to join the fun. I'm happy to be a part of the Steem Monsters community. Hopefully you will be too. 🙂

P.S. The small earning from this post will be sent to @doomsdaychassis to help cover the cost of the card he gifted me. It's not the monetary value but the act of kindness that is most meaningful to me. Thanks DC!

To my favorite Steem Monsters witness, thank you kindly for the support there. 🙂

Shhhhh. You were not supposed to tell anyone I am nice. :)

I figured it was the least I could do since you have dragged me kicking and screaming into many things that have helped me in my adventures here (IE: discord, steemmonsters) to name a few. Also somehow you were the only one honest enough to tell me I was horrible and should be muted by everyone. lol . I still get a good laugh out of that to this day. I appreciate that more than anything, that you are honest and not fake and that means the world to me so I happily paid the price to get you what you wanted. You deserved it. I take care of my people and you were one of the first to help me out around here and I will never forget that. Thanks.

Too late, your secret is out. You’ll just have to work on the horrible persona again. Of course people should mute you. 😂 You’re one horrible Steemian BUT one only has to look beyond to see the sweet guy underneath.

I remember your delegation to NRD when we were all small fishes. You just popped out of nowhere and said “I’m going to delegate to NRD!” You gave away half your SP because you wanted to help others. We’ve come a long way since then. For all of us, we still want to help others but just now realizing that we have to help ourselves grow too before we can truly support others. Let’s continue our journey with Steem Monsters! It really is about time you got involved. My goodness, who knew it would take nearly three months!

Glad to be on this journey with you, DC. I will pick horrible steemian any day over a ‘do-gooder’ one. 🏖

This is awesome! I feel the same way about Steemmonsters! I love them! It's exciting and a cool game takes you away to amazing places, lol! I absolutely love teh gold skeleton..I leveled him up to a level 7! I bought a whole bunch at $2 and now they were $25 earlier, lol- HODL!!! lol

You definitely have an awesome card collection @clove71. I know you are part of the Steem Monsters team but you've also shown tremendous support to individuals in Discord and on your DLive show. Glad to see your early investment with the cards are paying off! Yes, HODL! :)

That's an awesome looking card. Nice gift from cool friend.

What's this I hear about me hosting a "block party" contest?
I thought I was hosting a "block pool" contest, lol?

Lol, sorry @mellofello. I think block party sounds cooler than block pool, don't you think? :) I will make the correction just for you.

No don’t change it. You might help me attract more contestants since they think they are going to a block party, haha.

They already had three days to think of a block party. Now they can think of it as a block pool. :)

I totally agree with this post. The SteemMonsters community is awesome, and friendly, and generous. I have met so many cool people here. I've only been on the Steem blockchain a relatively short time, but interacting with the steemMonsters crowd has really lifted me out of the "upvote-for-upvote swamp"  that so many Steem n00bies find themselves in, early on.

That is about the size of things for me too. Sure, I have had a few Wordpress blogs over the years, but it isn't something that I'm mad keen on. My wife is much more the consistent writer than I am, but then she is published, and a trained proofreader/editor, so that's only natural. I do like engaging with the community though. 👋

Hi @trisquelwhare, fellow SM fan! We were both audiences in the fanfiction show a couple times. :)

The SM community is a great one and you have great timing with being on Steemit. The community has only been around for 3 months, so you haven't missed much. Still more good things to come!

I don't know much about wordpress since I don't blog outside of here, but there is a wordpress plugin to transfer your blog to steem. You should check out @steempress-io. They give a decent size vote too. Too bad I can never get into that world. Maybe you can get your wife to join too, if she publishes her writing on her blog.

I love you BOTH! Trisquel and beeyou! You guys are great. I couldn't agree more with this post beeyou! This is all spot on.

I got some Monsters!

Just waiting for the games to begin 😁 No pressure Matt!

No pressure at all there, hehe. We all have the Monsters bug.

Btw, look who is now at Rep 70. Congrats @abh12345!

Nice read on the communal generosity. Makes me a proud Steemian to hear of things like this.

Me too @investingpennies. That is why I am such a fan of SM. The generosity of the Steem Monsters community is a breath of fresh air on here. We all need signs of kindness and generosity on this blogging and sharing platform. I'm putting my faith in SM!
