RE: Getting High is a Human Right (Revised Edition)

in #steemitzombies6 years ago (edited)

Prohibition seems to be bad for everyone besides the governments that profit from it.

Many people don't understand that banning things doesn't make them go away. If it did, there would be no murder in the world. The truth is, most people who use any drug will live out their life never having any problem from it. Since they are illegal everything is more hazardous for these types of users because they must use the black market to get their drugs where there no controls. If we let people make their own choices, we save the trouble of punishing the ones who don't cause problems with their use and we can use that effort to help the people who actually do have problems. That's the way I see it anyway.

Thanks for reading.

I wrote a blog about the very same. Perception in law enforcement is slowly changing from a 'war on drugs' to a full legalization allowing monitoring and de-stigmatizing addiction. I've been a cop 26 years and have yet to see positive results from enforcing criminal offences relating to drugs.
