龙是中国等东亚区域古代神话传说中的神异动物，为鳞虫之长。常用来象征祥瑞，是中华民族等东亚民族最具代表性的传统文化之一，龙的传说等龙文化非常丰富。
龙的形象最基本的特点是“九似”，具体是哪九种动物尚有争议。传说多为其能显能隐，能细能巨，能短能长。春分登天，秋分潜渊，呼风唤雨，而这些已经是晚期发展而来的龙的形象，相比最初的龙而言更加复杂。
《张果星经》云：“又有辅翼，则为真龙”，认为有翼方是真龙。如西周有大量身负羽翼龙纹器皿，乃至青龙在先秦纹饰中也有羽翼。封建时代，龙是皇权的象征，皇宫使用器物也以龙为装饰。
龙在中国传统的十二生肖中排第五，在《礼记·礼运第九》中与凤、龟、麟一起并称“四灵”。而西方神话中的 Dragon，也翻译成龙，但二者并不相同。
中国古代民间神话传说中可见于中国经典中的生物，在现实中无法找到实体，但其形象的组成物源于现实，起到祛邪、避灾、祈福的作用。

The dragon is a miraculous animal of the East Asia, and, certainly, of China. It symbolizes auspicious. It is one of the most representative creatures of the traditional culture in the East Asia. The legends of the dragon and the dragon culture never stopped.
The Chinese character dragon “龙” is evolution from characters nine “九” combined with “似”. According to some stories, the dragon should look similar to nine kinds of animals. In the legends, they have ability to be invisible, to be whatever sizes they want to be, as well as being able to summon wind and to call for rain.
In feudal times, the dragon was a symbol of imperial power. So we always see these Chinese palaces decorated with dragons.
In the traditional Chinese Zodiac, dragon is ranked the fifth, in the "book of Rites" dragon was one of the "four spirits" with the Kyrin, the Phoenix and the Xuanwu.
Western world also has Dragon, but it is totally different from Chinese dragon.
Dragon has always been seen in Chinese biological folk myths and legends. We will never able to find it in reality, it can be invisible, secretly helping us to avoid disaster, blessing us.

自古以来，中华龙代表了神圣不可侵犯的权利。龙的缩影深深地扎根在每个炎黄子孙的心中。古时的中国，龙常常是皇族的象征，是吉祥之物。

中国历代帝王都以“真龙天子”自称。以龙为尊，以龙为荣，龙成了中国人的象征，中华民族的象征，中华文化的象征。对每个炎黄子孙来说“龙的传人” "龙的子孙”这些称谓，常令我们激动、奋发、自豪。

Since ancient times, the Chinese dragon was representing an inviolable right. The epitome of the dragon is deeply rooted in the hearts of every Chinese person. In ancient China, the dragon was often a symbol of the King's family blood line.
China emperors claimed themselves as "sons of the Dragon". Dragon often means glory, and a symbol of the Chinese nation. Chinese people were always the "descendants of the dragon".

龙文化起源于距今八千年的新石器时代。人们出于对大自然的崇拜与五谷丰登的美好愿望，原始先民的图腾崇拜。源于图腾又超越图腾，龙成为中国文化的凝聚和积淀。经过数千年的不断丰富变化，龙的形象日趋复杂身异，成为了一种拥有马头、鹿角、兔眼、虎齿、牛耳、蛇身、鱼鳞、鹰爪、鱼尾等特征的神兽并赋予它翻云覆雨，兴风作浪的神力，这就是龙。

Dragon culture originated from the Neolithic age eight thousands years ago. It was built by good wishes of the people, for the worship of nature and the ancestors of a bumper grain harvest. Dragon has become the cohesion and accumulation of Chinese culture. After thousands of years of continuous change, the image of the dragon becomes increasingly complex. It has been recorded as an animal with horse's head, deer's antlers, rabbit's eyes, tiger's teeth, snake's body, fish's skin, cow's ear, eagle's claw and fish's tail.
Dragons are able to play with cloud and rain, wind and waves. It controls everything related to water, including all the seas and oceans.

在中国传统纹身中，龙纹身占有重要的地位，国内乃至过外许多纹身爱好者以龙图文作为首选。其美丽的传说，集各物之长的形象。祈福辟凶，呼风唤雨的神性，都令人热衷和向往。

龙有几个爪子，曾经是很有说法的。一般，龙被分类为4爪和5爪。5爪是皇帝爪。4爪是将军爪。一般的老式龙纹身携带者纹的都是4爪龙。但是现在很多人都纹3爪龙，这是因为什么呢？是不是因为现在的纹身文化需要我们和曾经的黑道阶级纹身划分出界限呢？

Dragon Tattoo occupies an important position among traditional Chinese tattoo styles. Many foreign tattoo lovers in China also use dragon as the first choice.

The dragon has several claws. In underworld class tattoo culture, they are classified as 4 claw and 5 claw dragons. The 5 claw dragon is the emperor. The 4 claw dragon is the general. The old kind of dragon tattoo is tattooed with 4 claws. But now many tattoo artists prefer to design dragons with only 3 claws.

What's that for? Is it because the modern tattoo culture need to sort out the boundaries of the underworld class tattoo culture?

科学地看，纹身没有什么灵性，但是一些经过慎重挑选的，于自己有意义的纹身可以对人进行持续的心理暗示，对于一些信念有强化作用。如果是正面的心理暗示，是有好处的。纹身可以是刻在你潜意识里的警钟，你常常可以看见纹身，便能用其意义来监督你自己，审问自己是不是配得上这个纹身。

Scientifically, tattoos have no spirituality. But these tattoos which been carefully chosen, which are indeed meaningful for the owner, can be a constant psychological suggestion for these tattoo wearers. It can reinforce some beliefs.
Tattoos can be a warning bell in your subconscious mind. You can always look at your tattoo, and you can use it to supervise yourself.

有些纹身者的性格摇摆而犹豫，在挣脱迷茫或者想要挣脱迷茫的时候会选择纹身。
有些纹身者在经历了一些重要事件后，希望把一些深刻的经验以纹身的方式铭记。

这没什么不好的，出生了你需要出生证书，毕业了你需要毕业证书，结婚了你需要结婚证书，甚至死亡了都会需要死亡证明。而这个“落后的纹身”也是一张证书，封存在你人生中最宝贵的一张纸上 — 皮肤。

However, the understanding of the world is always changing. Maybe a period of time after the tattoo was done, you went on a completely different life track, totally being ahead of what your tattoo meant to represent.
There's nothing wrong with that. You need a birth certificate when you're born. You need a diploma after graduation. You need to get married, you need a marriage certificate, or even die, you will need a death certificate. 如果纹身是为了宣泄，可能会使人更加固执而极端。

对于纹身图案的解读，并没有什么的重要的意义，只是你，要明白为什么你会想要纹身。

所以不一定要纹龙，或者是麒麟，凤凰，还是玄武，来彰显纹身的意义，神话故事那么多，一个身体怎么纹的完呢。
其实以上的四种神兽并称为“四灵”，但是在星宿的传说中，还有一只神兽白虎，将会在下一篇中分享。
