LEARN BY NUMBERS

you'd never know
how far it has come
to be forgiven
what it can do;
they told us
what the numbers were called
in regulated grids
arranging the numbers
on the table:
inbetween, unmentioned,
neat-to-the-side.
stones in groups,
tiny and heavy.
get my bearings,
build up some confidence
memory of flash-fried
