When I think of sunset photos

I can't help but think of my earliest days with my Canon SLR. The first SLR I shot with and still the one I use today.

This sunset was shot on the West bank of the Mississippi River. The sun is about to descend behind the Natchez bridge. You can make out the silhouette of the riverboat casino down below. This was shot about 9 years ago so my two entries thus far span nearly a decade in time and almost 2000 miles in geographical distance.

The colors, oh the colors were spectacular!

Even after the sun was below the horizon the sky maintained blues shifting into yellows and deep caramels. One of the best sunsets I've witnessed. In fact my upcoming entry 3 will be of the post-setting colors as night encroached.

I debated if I should enter this other shot instead because I like that the exposure caught the circle of the sun behind the terrestrial structures. It's more differentiated from my shots so far entered but in a normal crop it's not as striking.
