in #steemitfamilyph7 years ago (edited)

But first What's a Mangaka ?

"Mangaka" (漫画家) is the Japanese word for manga artist. Outside Japan, manga usually refers to a Japanese comic book, and mangaka refers to the author of the manga, who is usually Japanese.

GUIDELINES

9.jpg

Well start by creating a circle,

well you can put some guidelines on it too for easier placement of parts.

2.jpg

Guidelines are crucial in order to make your drawings on line so, I recommend putting some on your drawings too.
It's consist of lines that the covers specific part of the face.

FACE-SHAPE GUIDELINES

3.jpg

You don't really need to follow perfectly the guideline.
In the guideline above you will notice that this mangaka style head is for an middle aged person.
that's why the chin is a little more longer. but if you like to draw something that's young and cute you can always reduce the chin length.

PLACING THE EYES

if you do not know where to place the eyes, you can look at the guidelines above.
this is the eyes i often use when I draw on papers, well I'm still new to Digital painting and currently using mouse for this one.
when creating eyes you can start by a small circle then adding the other parts of the eyes like the eyelids.

NOSE AND THE MOUTH

5.jpg

you can put any nose that you want, honestly there are a lot of nose and mouth tutorial out there that you can learn.
if you want it to be more mature like, you can put the nose near the mouth but if you want it to be cute you can move it near the eyes.
mouth and the nose are the smallest parts of the face that could change the whole drawing so be careful on putting it

SKETCHING THE HAIR

6.jpg

As for the hair there's a lot of tutorial out there too,
find one and practice it. For me this part is pretty needed in order to create good hair.
For this drawing I've chose a longer hair to make it more nature like
The sketch didn't have to be so good, so be free to experiment on the hair.

LINING OUT THE HAIR

7.jpg

Remove the guide and highlight the pars of the hair that will still be going on the actual drawing, don't lock yourself into perfection, be experimental on lining your hair.
I't fine if your first hair does not look good it's the first step of learning failing. so if you draw again in another time you can see what you've done wrong on your first drawing and you can make it right in your next drawing.

Lastly putting some colors, neck and neck shadows.
Here, I've colored it plainly in order to make it more simple
color is needed in order to create a scenery or to process where's the location for the audience
but i think for a tutorial it's best when it's simple.
