The Eviction (An Original Children's Story)

Once upon a time, there was a river that glimmered like crystals against the sunlight. That river was the home of a duck named Nancy. She had six ducklings that tailed her everyday wherever she went. They were living peacefully along with the other animals and  that lived in the area.

The river was located in the heart of a grassy woodland. All of the creatures depended on the river so much because it was their only source of water. They took good care of it, and in return, the river always gave them enough resources for their daily needs.

But everything changed when one day, a human family had decided to settle down in the woodland. They cut some of the trees to build a house, and some of the animals had to sacrifice their homes and find other trees to live in. They didn't argue, because they thought that having the new family around was a good thing. So the animals welcomed their new neighbors and went about their business.

But Nancy was skeptical. She had lived with some humans before, back when she was younger, and it was not a good experience. The humans she had known were very messy and abusive, and she had witnessed how they destroyed her previous home little by little until she had to move. Nancy was afraid that their new neighbors would turn out to be the same.

For weeks, Nancy observed the family. By then she had learned that the family consists of a couple, their twelve-year-old daughter and their ten-year-old son. The mother duck watched as the humans started throwing their garbage bags by the river everyday. Not long after the family has arrived, the river had started to smell different. Nancy began to worry, not only for herself, but for her children and her friends.

One night, she gathered all of her friends and told them about her observation. They were all worried and angry about it and agreed that they had to do something before it was too late. The human family must leave the woodland at once.

The animals devised a plan very carefully, and decided to start right away. Taking the garbage bags with them, they knocked on their neighbor's house and hid. The father opened the door and was instantly horrified to see that the garbage bags were outside his house. 

His wife and his children were awakened by his scream, and they all ran to him to see what had happened. The animals, all three hundred and fifty eight of different kinds and species, took the opportunity to attack them. The human family tried to fight, but they were obviously outnumbered. Nancy's friends emptied the house, and soon the humans found themselves being pushed towards the main road. They were being evicted. When they reached the road, the animals dropped all of their belongings, including the garbage bags, of course.

The family never came back, and the animals had cleaned the river until it was crystal-clear again. They promised themselves that they will never let the river be harmed again, as well the trees and every creature that lived around them.
