Happy and blessed day for the entire community of @steemiteducation and all the new community of @edu-venezuela that is in its week of premiere a great initiative of those who make up this great team that is day by day aware of the new educational trends for put them into practice, continuing with the fulfillment of the task of this week about talking about some historical educational figure that inspires me, because I decided to talk a little about Mary McLeod Bethune It is known that this woman was a great educator and American civil rights activist of the time who was recognized for founding a school for Afro-American students in Florida which later became the Bethune-Cookman University, this woman was also a consultant President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

McLeod was born in South Carolina, the daughter of parents who had suffered a lot in the era of slavery, she became interested throughout her youth in education which was the fundamental pillar of her life, with the help of many sponsored this She was able to attend university with the main idea of going as a missionary to Africa, but when she realized that her main missionary mission was cut short, she decided to found a school for black girls in Daytona Beach, which The quality education system was able to surpass the usual for African-American schools, also creating a rivalry with white schools.

The institution created by McLeod by having only six students on course to become mixed and lay the foundations of what would be the Bethune-Cookman University, forming a better education and growing greatly by then.

McLeod was an African-American woman who managed to work tirelessly to secure funding for the school, and her educational instincts and highly accurate training was so great that the school used it as a sample for tourists and donors of what educated blacks could do. , believing in his race without any social discrimination could offend, was president of the institution from 1923 to 1942, and from 1946 to 1947, at that time one of the few female university directors who have existed in the world.

McLeod Bethune was one of the most prominent African-American women of the time of the first half of the twentieth century, one of the most powerful women at that time, this woman was also well known at that time as the "First Lady of Struggle", this At the same time, he decided to devote his career to improving the lives of African-Americans through a system of exemplary education and the political and economic empowerment that was established in that century following its laws and statutes, first through the school he founded, Bethune-Cookman College, then later as president of the National Council of Black Women, and also managed to stand out as a top black administrator in the Roosevelt administration a managerial position that allowed him to climb positions that perhaps at that time was not what was customary in women.

During World War II, Bethune served as special assistant to the secretary of war and assistant director of the Army Women's Corps.

Some time later after his professional retirement he returned to Florida where he continued to speak and write about civil rights issues, Mary was almost in the year of 1898 with Alberto Bethune having a son as a result of their union but Alberto left the family in 1907. Mary McLeod died in 1955 leaving us an example of struggle for equality without discrimination without segregation, having all the same opportunities for education.

I cite Mary McLeod Bethune as my favorite historical figure because she was a woman who worked tirelessly to make education as good as possible, to bring the same opportunities to everyone equally, we all have the right to education no matter what race gender or type of society to which we belong, its main objective was that all of them had access to it, achieving collegial forms and being part of systems of social, political and educational struggles, I think that in the act of acting we can take it as an example of commitment and decision to achieve our objectives.

This is my contribution to the task this week I say goodbye wishing you a happy day remember that to achieve a better education we must follow our friends @steemiteducation.
