Helping Students Keeping Focus
Children like to participate in many activities, specially if what they are seeing is new and pique their interest. There is nothing wrong with that because when they are in school teachers can harness on it to get the proper engagement.
However, since children are most of the time eager to take part in any sort of tasks, they are also exposed to distractions that eventually shape their personality. This is a problem for teachers because as I've implied, their potential in some capacities can drift away.
Nevertheless, it is necessary not to put any pressure in their shoulders because children are always carried out by curiosity. So teachers should give them space in order for them to have time to exploit their creativity.
Now, going back to the main topic, I'd like to give you some recommendations to help your students concentrate on learning.
Get to know what they like and work on it or funnel it to the topics being taught.
Creating a proper environment to hold and RETAIN their attention.
Encourage them to be active learners. It means they need to take part in the lessons.
The lessons are to be practical. If theory is needed then you should enforce it with practical approach.
Step out of monotonous classes.
Strengthen the rapport between you and your students.
Put the focus on the learning over grades.
Welcome imagination. This is the most valuable asset children have. So let them use it.
The above are some advises you can use in class. But you can implement others depending on the behavior of your students. That's why it is important to know them. And naturally, the larger the group that you manage the harder is going to be.
Family Circle
The environment in their homes also influence their focus in school. If they vibe at home is good, the chances to excel in school are high because the mind of a student is in the right channel, not disturbed by external factors.
That's why it is essential to take advantage of the all parents' meetings conducted during the school year to discuss the importance of a good and productive family environment.
Also, we need to cover friends group as well because they can be very influential. When a student finds a group of people that share the same interests, he or she will find what almost all people want - that they belong. So, friend groups end up having an important role in the development of a person.
Conclusion
Focus is one the most difficult thing to master. There are students with have great ideas and high potential, but their focus is poor. That affects their performances dramatically. And what it needs to do is some adjustment.
There are students that are multitask individuals, but other needs to work one at a time. And this doesn't make them less intelligent or efficient. It is just that the brain processes things differently. In addition to that, their personality also come in because let's not forget that the majority of students are unique. They can perceive things differently and respond according to their own perceptions.
