Good interpersonal relationships depends on two main factors: communication and moral values. In communication, there is a person who issues a message that is picked up by a receiver that in some way responds to the message. The moral values have been established by our ancestors and express the way of being and feeling of the person. Some of them are: sincerity, honesty, generosity, responsibility, respect for the property of others, respect for oneself and other people.
Sincerity consists of telling the truth by taking all the risks involved. The person who has a tendency to lie has very little credibility within the group.
The honesty. It is a moral value that implies honesty, sincerity, impartiality, responsibility.
To be honest is, in a few words, to proceed with integrity and rectitude in all activities, recognizing limitations and errors.
Generosity
It is an attitude of detachment and of helping others, especially those who are most in need, without expecting a reward in return. It is knowing how to get rid of something material that is owned by one in order to satisfy the needs of others.
Being generous is knowing how to share and lend what we have. He is not happier to have more. We experience happiness when we can share with others what we have.
The self-esteem
It is the appreciation and love that we have for ourselves. To appreciate and love yourself you need to know yourself. Knowing what we are, what we are worth, our qualities and defects, the recognition and acceptance as we are and not as we would like to be.
When we have self-esteem we respect ourselves, others and things that do not belong to us.
Respect for other people
It is the attitude of consideration towards the people around us accepting them as they are.
Respect for others implies: calling them by their names, treating them according to the rules of courtesy, not making fun of anyone, not talking badly about anyone.
Respect for other people's things
They belong to other people or to public or private institutions because those goods have been achieved thanks to effort and work. It is necessary to respect public goods, taking care and using them rationally.
Do not take for yourself what belongs to another person. Take care of things in common use.
When we observe and comply with these moral values we manifest facets of our personality and we are happy to live in the family and social group.
If the behavior of an individual moves away from that established by society, to the same extent it rejects it and elaborates a mechanism to recriminate its behavior. It keeps him isolated from the group.
The moral values vary according to the nations. What in one town may be a value in another is not such. Nor are moral values immutable; They vary with the course of time. For our grandparents, religiosity was a value.
Responsibility
A person is responsible when he fulfills his duty, knows each one of his obligations and faces the consequences for the acts he performs.
If the social groups are made up of responsible people everything works well; If, on the other hand, the family or social group is formed with a person with little responsibility, the disorder is created and the group tends to disintegrate.
How to be responsible in the home?
- Caring for school supplies.
- Organizing the toys after having used them.
- When we wash and bathe daily.
- When we brush our teeth
- Helping our parents in the home.
- Doing homework at school.
Within the home, all the members must share responsibilities and in this way feel happy to live as a family.
How to be responsible at school?
- Attending punctually classes.
- Performing the assignments and tasks.
- Respecting the managerial, educational, administrative, worker and teammates of the campus.
- Showing good manners.
- Fulfilling the functions that we have voluntarily accepted.
How to be responsible in the community?
- Not messing the streets and avenues.
- Making rational use of public services.
- Notifying the competent authorities of the defects that have occurred in water pipes, telephones, and electricity.
If as parents and teachers we foster these values in our children, we will have better human beings in the present and future.
