Mikulas (St. Nicholas) Day // Kejutan Dari Santo Nikolaus

Hi Friends :)

On December 6th, it was Mikulas Day for the Hungarians; Mikulas is the Hungarian version of Saint Nicholas, and that means, kids were surprised with goodies in their boots!

Hai Teman!

Normally in Hungary kids would get "red bag" filled with treats (mostly chocolates) and other goodies, that are magically appear, filling their boots that they placed by the window/door, but in Canada it (Saint Nicholas celebration) is not a common tradition, no red bags of some sorts, so every year the boys would get Santa shaped chocolates instead, good enough :D

My youngest still does not really understand the difference between Santa Claus and Saint Nicholas, so he was not really waiting for December 6th to come, unlike my oldest. My oldest would keep checking on the boots he placed by the door, like every 5 minutes, literally, hahahah. Our right door neighbor asked why did we have goodies in the boots by the door, and he did not know about Saint Nicholas celebration. It is one of the great things with mixed-cultures household, we get to celebrate various interesting and awesome traditions :)

While my 8 yo already kinda figured it out that Santa is not really real, he would still like to believe that Mikulas is real, although it is getting hard for us to fill in the boots as he would always check, always around, or would not really sleep well at night hahaha
