How to shave for cheaper than Dollar Shave Club
Dollar shave club charges a minimum of 3$ for razor blades after buying the razor. It by no means a bad deal, however there is a better alternative. No, it is not another company that gives better prizes, but rather a different type of razor called a safety razor.
Safety Razors are old fashioned one blade Razors that are required by wet shaving . Wet shaving gives a much closer and are less irritating shave. Wet shaving is basically just shaving with water and either shaving cream or shaving butter. There is also a huge variety of different razors which vary in blade placement, and handle material. There are even some safety razors that are antiques and still work.
What makes safety razors cheaper is that the blades go for really cheap. A pack Feather Double Edge Blades of 50 will run 14.35 which mean that per blade that would be 29 cents. Now by my experience they last about 4 shaves but it cannot be generlized to everyone since my beard grows slow. Nevertheless the price will always be cheaper than any other kind of shaving. There is even the possibility to buy them whole sale for even more savings.
Now a little bit about blades, the blades come in little packages like shown in the image. Most people when they are starting out get pack that has many brands. This is to test out and see which blades are good for you. There is many articles online on what kinds of blades fit what kind of skin sensitivity or maybe which are beginner friendly. However, there is no better way to know than to just try them out.
I would suggest going on youtube and learning how to use the safety razor so that you don't end up cutting yourself. It took me around three tries to get it right. That is probably the only con about these kinds of razors. They take a little of skill to use but I think anyone by the third try should be good enough to not cut themselves.
