Anybody Else Suddenly get this: "bandwidth limit exeeded. Please wait to transact or power up STEEM."?

I have just got this problem tonight and I'm very disappointed by it. I was very very hopeful of what Steemit appeared to be and I'm just finding now more and more that it's a breeding ground and harbouring more of the same old thing we find everywhere on the internet, censorship, restrictions and people in the community telling us what we should and shouldn't be saying, how we should be behaving, what the content of our posts shouldn't be and bots which indiscriminately vote down and flag your posts for NO reason. Is there ANY platform out there at all which is completely and 100% open? WE NEED a platform where we can be ourselves and not have some ivory tower residents and narcissists telling us what we can and can't do in on a platform I thought was community driven?

Steemit resembles RL. Plenty of marxist/sjw types here, and many more joining soon.

But you can post whatever you want on this blockchain. No one can stop you. Eventually there'll be far more front-ends than just this website. Some will provide an uncensored, uninhibited access to it all. Downvotes be damned!

Eventually the community here will be split in so many different ways, they'll have almost nothing to do with each other. We're already headed there with language barriers. How many different populations can a person police? The 'Communities' feature will greatly accelerate this.

I think your beef is mostly with a small group of Steemians who are trying to keep the blockchain theirs. They're easy to spot by their obsession with quality of content and reward $$. And they always know best.

Control, control, control.

This is why they fear growth so much.

Why they fear growth, nice narrative that explains away investors acting against their investments quite simply..

I've started to see more paid assets on here for sure. My comments were an observation of a worrying trend, I don't have a "beef" myself. A small and growing number though are effectively censoring others on here just because it seems 'they can'. Plus we have the usual people that see a comment like mine from an observation of something that is clear to see and they completely misunderstand and interpret the words to what they think they are seeing rather that what is on the screen in front of them, so I'll be leaving it at this. Be safe and prepared friend.

People can tell you what they think, that's the beauty of free speech, you claim that they are forcing you though, they are forcing you to agree with them, or are forcing you some other way. If you are forced, leave..

I have just got this problem tonight and I'm very disappointed by it.

You shouldn't be, you didn't do any work coding or so to have expectations on such things. The limit is obviously in place so people don't spam. Hardly would an account that is invested into the platform resort to spamming so they have more bandwith.

Calling steem a breeding ground seems very ungrateful and as if you're entitled, but to equate that there's censorship on a censorship free, completely transparent decentralized platform, after you equated it to a breeding ground, asks why are you even here if you believe curation is censorship, and you don't like the restrictions, or people telling you their minds, or don't explain themselves over how they curated content.

You obviously have a problem with people speaking their minds, not with the platform. You think people shouldn't tell you what you can and can't do, because people shouldn't speak their minds, but more so implying that these people actually can compel you to act against your will, or force you in some way by telling you what you should and shouldn't do.

You completely misunderstood what I wrote. Good luck to you.

Yeah I'm sure that Breeding Ground and censorship meant something else. I just misunderstood it completely, because there's another way to take those things.

Well, the unable to transact message never repeated for me. I can only speculate that it was a temporary problem, and that it affected many people.

I am relieved that I wasn't being targeted for censorship! lol

That would be how to do it on Steemit. I actually PM'd someone I know on Steemit through another medium to let them know what was happening, in case I could never again post on Steemit.

AFAIK, I am unaware of censorship on Steemit. The reason I was so alarmed is that I have been looking for it, hardly able to believe it isn't being done. I have seen suppression (whale downvotes, etc.) but not outright censorship.

So far so good. This did alarm me a lot though. This would be a mechanism that could be employed to censor. I want to find out more about the problem, and why some of us experienced it.

Just because.

I think it was just temporary, but yeah it would be nice to know more about the mechanic in place that makes it happen, like you said "just because" I'm interested also. I've experienced the censorship, a bot downvoted one of my posts and hid it from view. That is censorship and if a 'Whale' can downvote and destroy your reputation and severely harm your potential to earn then that also has the potential to cause you loss of earnings. Some people will obviously be earning enough here to live quite comfortably. Be safe and prepared friend.

I saw that message too earlier tonight but it looks like it was just a glitch and went away on its own.

Thanks for letting me know! It seemed to just go away for me too, and i have been posting and commenting my happy ass off ever since.

Strange glitch. I know now of 6 accounts affected today, only one of whom did anything to make it go away, and all of the other 5 report, as do you, that it just went away.

Weird.

This happened to me for the first time this morning. I borrowed some Steem Power from my wealthy brother and the problem disappeared.

Someone commented on the issue today saying that each account has a limited bandwidth assigned to it, but that doesn't explain why this is happening all of a sudden.

I have now talked to 5 people this happened to today. AFAIK none of the affected accounts powered down recently, or have any reason to have exceeded their bandwidth allocation, including me.

Did you run low on SP, or just thought to add SP to fix it? As soon as I posted and commented elsewhere than the post where I encountered the problem, it was fixed.

I just hope it stays fixed!

No, I wasn't running low on SP but thought that adding some might help. Don't ask me why!
I tried commenting elsewhere and tried powering up but it didn't work. I begged some SP from my brother and as soon as I received that, the problem disappeared. Of course, the 2 things could be completely unrelated.

That's odd. More data in the mix. Maybe there are also several separate matters I am conflating because they happened about the same time. Hmmm.... I dunno.

I had that problem a LOT back about ten months ago. Once I got about 500 SP it went away.

Thanks! I'm not halfway to there yet, but this is the first time I've seen that message, even when I just started out and had only the delegation with which to transact on the blockchain.

Had me worried a bit. Went away tho. Hope it stays away!

It's aggravating isn't it?

LOL I am suffering from a piqued curiosity. Only one way to scratch that itch.
.

Sounds like SP shortage, get more than 10X minimum

STEEM On!!

Well, that is my understanding of what this message is intended to report, an SP shortage.

My recollection of the SP required to post and comment (transact on the blockchain) is more than 4 SP, but not more than 15.

I have now spoken to 6 different accounts that experienced this same message today, and it seems to have just gone away.

I therefore suspect that it was not my personal SP holdings that triggered the warning, as none of the others recounted any recent diminishment of their SP either, and only one person borrowed SP.

A curious glitch? Dunno.

I Powered up before I saw the error, so I was really confused hehe

There was a different post I read that indicated the issue can be caused by too much upvoting, which temporarily dilutes your SP. Try slowing down on your upvoting, let your power rejuvenate, that could work.

STEEM On!!

Thanks @davebrewer! I have been keeping my VP up above ~80% or so after I read the white paper. I have noted that there are times when the recharge of VP seems to fluctuate, rather than proceed daily.

There have been stretches when VP recharged at ~2% rather than 20% for days at a time. Perhaps that's the module that is impacting me, and perhaps others.
