Facebook May Be Listening to Our Conversations to Serve Us Ads - Another Reason to Use Steemit
Facebook, Inc. has had to officially declare that it doesn't listen to users' conversations for the purpose of serving them potentially highly relevant ads. After visiting my parents where my mother told me of their plans to take an Alaskan cruise, I began to see ads on Facebook for Alaskan cruises. I certainly hadn't searched anything like it but whether it was serving me ads because family members were searching the net for that specific item or because it had overheard my mother and I's conversation about it when we were near her laptop is hard to say. Either way, I wasn't surprised when I saw various allegations of similar behavior out of the company on internet forums, as rumors of Facebook's ability to record our conversations have compelled me to keep the Facebook and Messenger apps off my phone for years.
Two large threads on reddit feature many users sharing accounts of weirdly specific ads related to obscure, personal conversations being served to them.

We already knew Facebook served us ads based on our activity on the site, ads which from which it profits. In contrast, steemit.com pays its users to create content.
Social media based on the steem blockchain is nice because it doesn't listen to your conversations.
Yep they do!! I own my own business and the ads you pay for on facebook is all based off of keywords that you use in your posts.. Sites like Steemit are the way to go!!
