Tether is not allowed in New York. I am really frustrated right now.steemCreated with Sketch.

I have been hoping to depend on earning steem to cover minor costs while I work on my game and prepare to get it up on early access so I can begin making money to fund the project. Which at first seemed to be a perfectly ok plan.

Its not ideal but the math seemed to work out that if I work my ass off while making sure to keep blogging and being consistent here at steemit I would be able to pull off a once in a life time opportunity to be able go solo working on my own games.

So my first plan was to use something like https://tether.to/ to convert my steem into USD.

Well, so much for that plan.

  • Taken from the FAQ section of the tether main page :

In what countries and states does Tether have limited functionality?
Tether is committed to operating in a secure and transparent way, while adhering to all government compliance and regulations.

For this reason Tether does not operate in countries and U.S. states that do not regulate virtual currencies. Users will not be able to access the Tether services from these locations and Tether will not be able to offer services to Residents of these locations.

Current U.S. states with limited functionality:

New York

I moved to New York like a week ago

This is pretty annoying as my plan can totally work. Its a super awesome chance to do what I need to do. I can focus on the game and even pull in a small sum on Steemit to cover the cost of my energy drinks and snacks as I continued to work.

I am speechless right now. I seriously hope there is going to be a way for me to convert BTC into USD while I am in New York. At the moment I am just kind blowing off steam. I am sure there is going to be a way to get around this bullshit.

Anyone have advice? Because I am seriously not up for letting some bullshit LIKE THIS to get in my way.
