With Great Steem Power, Comes Great Responsibility
With the new changes, anyone even with a little Steem Power has an impact on the platform. For some, having a one cent worth of upvote is a huge deal. I remember the first time my vote was worth this much. I couldn't believe it, I got one cent every time I upvote, when this ever happened on Facebook? As you advance on Steemit your influence will increase and soon enough your votes will be worth 10 cents, a dollar, 10 dollars and so on. At one point one realizes that it's not just the money that they give to people but also hope that is being given around. Having a saying in what direction this place is heading by supporting particular authors and posts is a game changer for everybody. So, if your vote is worth even just one cent, then yeah, you are already kind of a big deal, just hang around and Steem on!

Yes, that's why I was against autovoting when it began. With the new rewards system, I think more and more people prefer to upvote manually.
Bot voting is a touchy subject for me. It can be used for good if actually configured appropritely and with care. Or it can be used for greed, which of course makes you an asshole haha. I do bot voting in what I perceive as a positive and fair manner, by hand curating my list and VP applied. My list consists of people who meet specific criteria such as low account value, community engagement, community building, high effort posts, etc. It's important to help inspire and reward certain people that play a vital role in building steem as a community. We want to keep those individuals because they're what will make this all worthwhile. They're the men and women on the ground spreading the word and supplying the material we enjoy as well as being the person on the other side of the screen. Unfortunately, not everyone is doing it this way, so I try to make my intentions known so hopefully people will think about their actions and follow my example.
I totally agree, after all, these are tools, it's up to us how we use them. I don't blame the technology behind bots, as you mentioned, unfortunately, people will always try to game the system.

I remember when I started to see that my votes counted for 1 cent. How careful I was on who I was voting. That post needed to be worth my 1 cent :)).
Well said. It shouldn't matter if your vote it worth 3 cents or 3 dollars, we owe it to ourselves to pick only the best content so Steemit can thrive.
