3. Daily accounts transacting (daily average per week)

A 'transacting account' is a Steem account that made at least one transaction on the Steem blockchain. This can be a vote, post, comment, transfer, power up or sbd conversion. Users who only read from the Steem blockchain without interacting are not included. The actual number of 'Active users' is therefore much higher than the accounts transacting.

Wow the amount of steem being powered down is disgusting... doesn’t look too good at the moment

Things are still fairly flat despite all these thousands of new accounts. We should really be at 100k active accounts by now. We did just reach 2000 dolphins, but it's very slow growth. I hope to see 10k minnows in a matter of months, but it needs more people to support the small accounts and not just themselves. It's an investment in the future of Steem.

Steevc, yes, everyone knows that, yet there's no change. Why? Sure short term gains trump over possible long term gains in the eyes of majority. If there'd been people like you as whales on this platform, perhaps, this place would have flourished a long time ago, but when the majority stake lies within very selfish people and the system relies heavily upon their actions, this is what we get.

Always nice to see your optimism, year after year, month after month though :)

Dan says he's learned that lesson from Steem so perhaps MEOS will be the place that puts reigns on human greed.

·
·

Exactly, the creators of this blockchain believed that everyone has the same way of thinking as they do. They forget that we live in a every man for himself selfish world or neoliberalism, as you prefer.

But I still think that the problem with Steem here can be solved, but at current speed is more probable to see MEOS before that.

·
·
·

Yes, what we need is more stake in the hands of active Steemians who actually use it to empower others a bit more than just to fatten their own wallet. The change is happening slowly towards that, but I'm not sure we have the time to wait... I'll be checking out MEOS for sure, since it seems Dan learned a big lesson from human greed after Steem.

·
·

I'm an internal optimist with a dose of realism :)

·
·
·

Hmm, perhaps I'm just a realist with a healthy dose of imagination to play out different possible scenarios. So I can appreciate your optimism, but reality is still holding me back :) Especially now that Dan is coming out with MEOS, but to be honest, I don't care what chain wins, as long as the product will help humanity as a whole to better ourselves. Steem + Steemit isn't really doing that, and that's the harsh reality and why we're struggling.

·
·
·
·

Obviously we have a vested interest in Steem doing well, but it is not invulnerable. I hope Steemit and others see the danger.

·
·
·
·
·

Yes, I've been here for a long time also. Honestly I can't say there's been too many moments where I've been happy with the state of Steem... or Steemit. The opportunity has been wasted, and you can finally see Steemit scrambling a bit as they also realize that. Ned isn't anywhere to be seen... He's always been a lackluster leader, and I guess he's happy what he has gotten from Steem personally. Young man with a newly found wealth and good hair, I'm sure he's very busy somewhere. And talking of leaders, I do kind of miss the long ramblings of Dan, at least he communicated his ideas thoroughly. The coming reality I'm betting on is starting to look quite grim for Steem, which of course is sad considering the amount of time I've sunken into it. But world waits for no one.

We'll just have to see what Dan's new Steem has in store for us all.

·

hello steevc
unless signup's involve only a few steps, are free and instant, and passwords simplified, it will be difficult to get momentum. people still get stuck at sign up- esp the mobile number verification code never arrives, I myself had 2 accounts of friends stuck at that - so I dont recommend anyone..please fix and simplify. Thank you :)

·
·

I have been signing people up for free and delegating them SP. Anyone with a decent amount of Steem can do that. We cannot rely on Steemit to do the necessary work.

The passwords are a bit of a hurdle, but many people seem to get the idea. They do have a point as we need to keep our accounts secure. Dapps like Partiko make using Steem pretty simple.

·
·
·

I dont know how to signup people for free
thats ok - they will figure out on their own.
Dapps like Partiko - sound good - but giving them posting private key?
I am never a fan of giving out posting key , rather any key, to any 3rd party dapp, app
nothing can be deleted here - what if something bad is posted on a user's behalf ? that damages the account and reputation. I really don't buy the argument that if it is not a financial loss, then its no loss at all for a user.
isnt there a way other than giving out keys to dapps - like API or something like What Twitter and Facebook Use for app sign-ins?
and why doesnt Steemit launch its official mobile app, why?

·
·
·
·

On this site you can claim accounts. You may not have enough SP yet.

All dapps should really be using Steemconnect or Steem Keychain so you don't have to give them your key, but posting key is relatively low risk and you can always change it if there is a problem. You are right that things cannot be deleted (after a certain time), but they can be edited.

I think Steemit choose to use their limited development team for other things. They rely on others to build apps.

·
·
·
·
·

Thank you Steve
I will have a look at the site :)
I hope the development speeds up soon.
@andrarchy did announce an official steem app sometime ago, as far as I can remember. But, I guess things will speed up once the crypto markets start trending up again.
I also remember, when I joined Steemit, the crypto marketcap was $40 Billion and I saw it go from $40 Billion to $800 Billion in one straight line and the steem price go from $0.24 to $8.00 . I hope we see something similar in the next couple of years.
Take Care and Thank you for all your answers.

·

There is a thing called "desire paths" in urban design for something.

Desire paths

Steemians don't use the blockchain as it was designed, so we should adapt those paths and use a clear structure to guide the user to support the small accounts.

If Busy, Steemit, Steempeak don't help minnows with guidelines and don't make it easy for established steemians to look up for new content created by minnows, it's a matter of time before a crypto like Tron checkmate Steem.

Steempeak is the only one that is moving fast trying to improve on this.

what is @upmyvote doing with all those bot accounts?

Edit: from @bot1 - @bot500 so far.

·

wow that's a lot of bots.

·
·
  ·  last month (edited)

lol yeah. Gaming?

·
·
·

Nope.

Two more guesses.

·
·
·
·

you are dart/tard? :D

·
·
·
·
·

I might be a tard but I am not either nope.

Last one.

·
·
·
·
·
·

You are going to run my transaction stress test suggestion and push some steem between them every three seconds until there are more 24h transactions than EOS' record of 87 million.

·
·
·
·
·
·
·

Unless you can do 150 Million transactions per second like Visa transactions is old news and isn't going to bring people to Steem.

·

Good question. I suspect a lot of the new accounts will be bots. We need more real users. Of course there is nothing to stop people creating whatever accounts they want if they have enough RC. I have been creating a few for other people who don't want to wait. I did create one for my cat to try it out, but that is not really for profit.

·
·

Well these ones are definitely bots and it looks like it is @themarkymark so, gaming? I would say that when averaged, every user has 25 accounts on steem.

Cats are never profitable.

·
·
·

I’ve never seen a profitable cat. Where do you find them?

·
·
·
·

Never heard of Grumpy Cat?

·
·
·
·
·

The Steem celebrity or the one in real life?

·
·
·
·
·
·

I meant the real/original one. Had actually forgotten about the one here :) Things change so fast on Steem

·
·

do an XLM style Airdrop - maybe of a an SMT, for KYC verified signups perhaps?
