Can Steemit Save Free Speech?steemCreated with Sketch.

Free Speech in the USA and around the free world is under attack.  It always has been and it always will from inception.  In this free thinking blog I'll delve into my own observations and thoughts as to why I think Steemit and the concept of steem will ultimately save free speech.

Can US colleges and universities save free speech?

This is doubtful if you have witnessed the constant "safe space" isolation and outright hostility towards any opinion that opposes the faculty and political left right now.  Back in the 1960's Berkley for example was a free speech environment where different opinions and view were allowed to be heard.  Flash forward to today and these same opposing thoughts are shut down with not only mob tactics but also mob violence.

Can politicians save free speech?

Doubtful because the masses have fallen for the "victim" outlook on life along with the "political correct" movement which has either silenced opposing views for fear of their own property, life, and family is just too great.

Can popular figures like celebrities save free speech?

Not a chance because their very paychecks are so tied into the system of silence of free thoughts and expression they just tow the line in fear of losing popularity and income.

Who can save free speech?

My answer is you reading this post with the help of using steemit can knock down the institutional system of towing the popular line and expanding expression and intellect to a higher standard.  Facebook, youtube, and many other social media platforms are conforming to the popular political correctness of advertisers to the point of smashing free thought and expression to a pulp.  Anyone with a room full of a couple dozen people can create enough twitter bots and facebook accounts to flood advertisers to sway not only products but also campaigns and services to fit a more popular political agenda.  This non censoring, non blocking format finally drives a wedge and promotes free speech.

Can Steemit fall into the same trap?

No way in hell you know why?  This community is bigger than just 6 people, or a dozen, or a 100.  If a small segment tries to sway the entire community one way or the other for a agenda it won't work because the masses here know what is quality versus fake.  Supporters and users here already have the power to vote, reply, and or ignore content they don't deem for them.  In a way the economy works in here better than outside in the free market because here everyone can participate and owns a small share of the pie.

I hope you're right, I see the same issues described all over the place and the scary part is, a lot of people are content with losing it and don't even know it.

@jeffcirceo Once its gone it's going to be a rough road to get it back.

Watching free speech get demonized by pretty much every outlet is just... depressing. Free speech is what upholds the very fabric of civilization. Without it, "SHTF" so to speak.

At least I'm glad there are still enough people out there that still support it.

Right on @anubisthegaylord resteem this if you want. More people need to read and hear different ideas before it becomes too late.

Thanks brother we gotta speak up before it is too late!

You nailed it, good job

Thanks glad you liked it @cullyguy
