Appics? Seriously? Is This An Investment Case? Let's Talk About It!
Guys lets talk about the recent announcement of Appics!

So what is Appics exactly?
APPICS is a mobile social media application that runs on top of the STEEM Blockchain and was created with the full support of Steemit Inc. According to their official Post.
This is already a good sign that it was created with the full support of Steemit Inc. Well, I don't believe with full support because these guys have a lot do with their own project, but I think what they want to tell us is, that Steemit Inc is definitely involved with high influence. And that's good because they are doing a good Job.
For me, it was a matter of time until this would happen.
I wrote a post about if it is possible to use Steemit like Instagram.

For me and that's, only my opinion steemit is more a text-based social network.
For blogging perfect, but for quick sharing of your current status, pictures or videos in my opinion not ideal. It's working but the nature of the site lies more in blogging. That's why I appreciate this idea about a social network like Appics. Short and fast!

Appics will have similar functionalities like steemit so you will be familiar with that. You will get rewarded for creating content, but not in Steem, instead of in their own token called XAP.
Appics will have more function like:
• Upload a photo
• Upload a live stream
• Make transactions
• Build an online store
Building an online store sounds interesting. Would like to know more about this.
Well, the team behind it are all Steemit Members from the first generation. I count that also as something positive. They have already some knowledge about a decentralized social network in different ways but most important for me in term of User Experience.
One of the most important matters for users. How good is the user experience? They saw and are seeing the development of Steemit the good and the bad which they can use to improve their App; I hope they did :D
I like the whole appearance and the presentation of this app. For me, it looks that they put a lot of effort in it. The Website is well built.
There is also one thing that gives me a positive view of this project and please don't misunderstand it's no offense to anybody.
The Team behind Appics, when I observed it right then some of them are germans. Ok, I don't know if they are germans, but they speak German.
You are asking now what the good thing about it is?
Well, when I am right then the probability that they will work structured, disciplined and well organized is high. Of course, it's not a guarantee, but I count it as a good sign personally for me. Again this is not an offense it's just a personal view.
If you are interested in being an early investor for the pre-sale ICO, then you need to be prepared because the minimum investment amount will be 10.000 USD according to an email I got from the Autoresponder.
I like the idea; really I like it. And I think we need it. Steemit was just the first step in this direction. And I am sure that we will see more in the future. Well is this an investment case?
This everyone needs to decide for himself.
They have to prove themselves; even Steemit has not yet proven itself in my opinion.
But, Appics looks promising to me. A mobile, decentralized social media platform designed for short and fast actions. I am excited where all this will end up.

The fact that steemit is for blogging is a major set back, I guess appics is the Facebook and Twitter that people are looking for because not everyone is a blogger
Exactly that's it. Not everyone is a blogger and want to blog.
It will be also interesting how it will compete with zappl. I think this will come out soon.
Two different apps.... Zappl will be more like a Twitter while APPICS more like an Instagram....

I've heard this here and there that Steemit needs more of faster and video-audio oriented applications. I have no strong opinion in that.
For me Steemit is one of the platforms who brought hope back that the reading age doesn't extinct. I haven't got the impression on other sites that anyone nowadays is able to read more than one paragraph and doesn't need a lift, a jpg, an exiting distraction for his eyes. I know that I myself changed my reading habits and my vision appreciates it when the text is interrupted by a nice head- or subline or a design element.
... maybe I am just annoyed that things change a little to fast and attention is being THE thing in the galaxy. Sorry, I am losing my point, I guess:))
The investment is way beyond my options and I am glad I don't have to make this kinds of decisions.
Nevertheless I am interested what this whole market is going to be, so I thank for this peace of insight.

Couple of points I'd like to make.
Yes on APPIC XAP will be the currency, but like all smart media tokens, it's actual underlying base is Steem. As these SMTs are created they will be tradeable on the currency market just as steem and SBD are now. For XAP or any other SMT to become FIAT currency it first has to become steem then get transferred to an exchange.
I see Steemit staying the wild west of blogging sites. Anything goes - porn, bots, self voting, etc. while the new kids on the block(chain) will come in 31 new flavors. The white paper for APPICS made it clear there will be no porn, no bots, and that each category will have moderators.

This is something meant as I was saying that the team behind Appics saw and are seeing what is going wrong with steemit.
But I also think that steemit could learn from that and improve their own project.

I would like to see steemit mature into a site that will appeal to a wider audience. I'm not sure those with the biggest vests share that opinion.

Appics is quite a big development.
I am also excited. Many in steemit aren't originally writers, thus making blogging a kind of cumbersome and hard. I've noticed that people on steemit love long posts. Appics will help users who like short actions truly.
Maybe a #shortpost tag can also be created to support short actions on steemit too.
