Lately a lot of phishing are happening on steemit and it's pretty alarming that many of us are victimized by this.Phishing is a kind of scamming by the means of emails, websites, clickable ads, or any pop ups. This is done by either clicking the sent link or entering credentials on a non-secured site.

On this post we will tackle the things you need to know to not be phished by someone. Giving some tips in order to minimize the people being phished.

''THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK !"

Thinking before clicking is the best way to stop plagiarism. Being wise on the things you say or click on the internet is a good habit that everyone should do. This days Phishing happens because people are so easy to catch, the scammer is just like the fisherman and the one who will be scammed is the fished.

Here's how common phishing happens, The phisher will send out a link on a certain site that will "give you a big reward" or something if you gave your credential and because we're just humans sometimes we are dazzled by the Big reward as said so and we just type our credential on the site given and after you enter you datas on their site the site automatically saves the entered data and the phisher can access this data because they are the creator of this site the y gave on the link. Some phishing are so high tech that even if you just clicked the link it will automatically capture your datas like passwords, credit cards, etc. and the scariest part is you wouldn't know that a phishing is happening until you check your balance or account.

So this tip is most highly suggested in order to avoid being phished.

"ALWAYS CHECK THE SECURITY OF THE SITE"

Most of the people wandering through the internet don't know much about this thing, Well let me explain this "Secure" thing is.

There are actually two things that ca "Secure" thing is the actual security state of the site. If it says "Secure" it means the site is protected and is acknowledge safe by google.

But if the word say "not secured you're prone to phishing or viruses on the sites that may attack your pc and get you datas

Be sure to always check this to see of the site is legit or not there are may sites that are not legit and contains many viruses like trojan etc.

"CHECK THE SENDER"

Check the sender if the person is legit or in other word real. you can do a little search on google or maybe checking sites that may have the same message. there are forums for this kinds of searches, forums that contains a lot of phishing link, you can search it there but no clicking of links cause it may harm your computer or your datas.

Checking the sender is also super useful if you think about it. If someone is saying that you have won $1 million dollars in email all you have to do is click the link, many of us will just click the link, but that is the wrong thing to do. sometimes things that are too unreal are suspicious. think about it .. most of the links that are saying that you have won something says it's random generated, really random generated ? there's only a little chance that you will win by a generated number on internet sites. internet is a vast computer itself so what are the odds. and if the prize is too good to be true, then it's phishing link.

This is why we have to check this 3 things always in order to avoid being phished !
  • Check The Sender

  • Check The Security Of The Site

  • Think Before You Click

if you do this 3 things im sure you won't be scammed or phished guaranteed 100%.
