It's nice to say that money should be the side effect of art, but as someone who has made their living as an artist for my entire adult life, I call shenanigans. Unfortunately, the reality is that most of us cannot afford the grueling schedule and vigorous demands required to create good art, unless it gives us something in return. The best way is to make it feed and clothe you so that you can devote yourself to it.
