RE: Is @dantheman Right about Changing the World? - Steem Smart Podcast Ep. 9b

in #steemit8 years ago

Thanks for podcasting. 67% of the world population are more or less fine with people getting hurt by them or somebody else, as long as they can avoid the consequences of their actions (Milgram). Therefore democracy is out of the question. Also if people are good, then we do not need a state, if people are generally bad we cannot have a state, because a majority of elected people will be bad and take advantage of the good minority.
In the end it all comes down to making sure that people get the consequences of their own direct or indirect actions and having a state that can steal money from people at the point of as gun, control money-creation, interest rates, borrowing and let the unborn children pay later is the opposite of letting consequences follow their actions. Statism is an illusion, which means it only exist in your brain. So using force or weapons or any kind of physical action has only the opposite effect of liberation .. it makes anarchists and the likes, look ridiculous. You have to argue logically and rationally - that is the only possible way, outside a complete zombie-apocalypse !

Sort:

I was mostly with you until you said, "You have to argue logically and rationally," which flies in the face of everything you said before it.

What makes you think that all these people who are fine with hurting people are going to listen to logic and reason?

Thanks for listening btw!

Thanks for replying @georgedonnelly. I did not say that you would be succesful trying to argue, but still it is the only way. It is like pointing a gun at bitcoin to use some sort of physical action to "argue" against statism, it will not have an effect. Using anything else but arguments against statism only brings more statism. Really my point is, it is futile to try and argue the masses away from statism, they will have to feel real pain before the problem has a chance of becoming visible to someone who spent 15 years in a brainwashing institution. I am personally convinced that an economic meltdown is the one thing that can turn things around

Why is it the only way?

There is no point to arguing because having perfect opinions is useless until/unless you do something with them.

Therefore, the truly useful thing to do is go out and build the world or society you want.

You seem to have contradicted yourself.

an economic meltdown is the one thing that can turn things around

Do you think the powers that be won't devalue the currency, turn around and start all over again?

It is the only way because statism is an illusion in peoples heads, it does not exist in the real world. That is where it has to change. The effects of their beliefs, the buildings, the armies, the guns, the courts etc... are all just symptoms. Trying to "remove" them or fight them or what ever you wanna call it, will only make "them" want more government, meaning more brainwashing and more "symptoms" (force). But even though arguing morally and or rationally against statism, does not mean that it can be done. If people do not want to be changed mentally, that is it then. I believe that the vast majority is beyond any moral argument or argument from rationality, so there is no other choices left except an economic catastrophe that either brings the change towards free association of governance or a new dark ages.

Actually i do not care what some "power that is" would want to do. I am only interested in what is true and what is moral. Second guessing psychopaths and figuring out a pseudo state entity to counter that is just as much statism as what we have now
