Feedback on the Recent Steemitwallet.co & Advertisement Update..

in #steemit5 years ago (edited)

Woke up today and to my bewilderment noticed that we've now no wallet access on steemit.com but rather are redirected to Steemitwallet.co which is an entirely all together different site. The Steemitwallet.co site is run by Steemit Inc and the removal of the wallet on Steemit.com seems to have greatly increased site load times / responsiveness and the same goes for the Steemitwallet.co site.

While a bit of a pain in the ass to have to dig out my passwords to login to the new site all and all I say good job to the Steemit development team on this part of the update.

Constructive Criticism of the Wallet Site

( Can you tell which of these two tabs is the Steemitwallet.co or Steemit.com..? Me Neither! )

About the only things that caused me a bit of grief are the lack of links leading back to Steemit.com after I've been sent to Steemitwallet.co as well as the lacking of distinguishable titling when compared eachother. At this point and time it's quiet hard to tell which tab is the wallet and which tab is Steemit.com. Other than those 2 points I think this is great.

Oh Wait.. What The FUCK is That..? Ads?!

For a long while I knew this day would come when we'd be seeing Steemit.com introduce advertising elements to the site in order to create a passive revenue stream for both the site and it's parent company Steemit Inc. A incredibly high percentage of the internet has advertisements on it, and we were all lucky to have spent so much time on this site previously without ads. Does this mark the beginning of Steemit going mainstream perhaps?!

Constructive Criticism of the Ads

While not entirely opposed to the idea of having advertisements on the site it would be in the best interest of all users and Steemit Inc to allow folks to purchase an ad free version of the site perhaps on a monthly subscription basis.. Or if revenue is abundant and Steemit Inc wishes to reward users for being exposed to ads in the form of weekly STEEM or something that'd be cool too. Either of these options above would be great.

Honestly wouldn't bat an eye if I could pay a few STEEM a month to opt out of being bombarded by ads when I scroll through my friends blog feed.

In Conclusion

It's good to see progress and evolution of the Steemit.com site. Would like to reach out and congradulate the developer team over at Steemit Inc for making steps towards the future of this site and the STEEM community in general.

With this year well under way feels like it could be a great year for our community.

I couldn't describe it better.
I agree on all counts.

Appreciate you reading this post and upvoting it!

Hopefully one of the Steemit Inc boys see this and put their feedback into it.

Have a gooder!

It is a good update to keep the company on the map and survive.

I agree with you

I've fully moved to steempeak for social stuff cuz of the ads. They are disruptive as hell.

Will check it out..!

Holy fuck this is a nice GUI! Thanks for mentioning it!

Thats what I thought when I started using it. Plus its got a lotta cool features like the dashboards and use of steemkeychain and beneficiaries.

what is the problem buddy? what is the problem with ads ? ads are very good and without ads whole internet can't run. almost every business depended on ads. Ads will help to earn some amount to steemit and it is best for steem.. as a true steemian, i have no problem with ads.

As someone who's been on an ad free Steemit since basically the beginning I find it odd to see ads on my feed.. I agree ads are great for the site income wise but ultimately I'd like the choice to be bombarded with ads or not. :D

adblock works for me. i haven't noticed any change..

About the only things that caused me a bit of grief are the lack of links leading back to Steemit.com after I've been sent to Steemitwallet.co

That was the big problem for me along with the fact that they put up the announcement well after they made the changes so I thought I was phished until I figured it out. I haven't seen the ads yet but if there are ads they should share the revenue with the viewers of the ads, that would be easy to do with STEEM.
