Streemit Proves that Community Works!
The world would be a much better place if more people would behave like the contributors on the Steemit Platform.
Think about it, Steemit is all about contributing, leading and following. And most importantly it is about REPUTATION!
Your success on Steemit is dependent not only on your ability to find like minded people to share your thoughts and opinions with; much of your success is dependent on your ability to attract a diverse group of followers who may not necessarily agree with everything you post or comment. You accomplish this by actively seeking people that have different experiences than yours.
Once you find those people, you engage. And you engage in a respectful, thoughtful manner. You share your opinions, acknowledge their right to have their own opinion and begin a healthy conversation. At the end of the day, they learn from you and you learn from them.
Ultimately, there will be discussions that will still end with differing views, but through these discussions you will have gained a better understanding of the topic from differing points of view, and hopefully the respect of the community through your ability to share your thoughts and contribute in a respectful, non-confrontational manner.
Because your success on Steemit is dependent on maintaining a strong reputation, you are encouraged to build bridges and find common ground. Unlike in the real world where for the most part, people with different views as yours are ignored or treated as the enemy.

The people here are generally friendlier than in most platforms. However, it may change if Steemit becomes as popular as Facebook. It's up to us to keep it positive. :)
I would be fine if SteemIt becomes the high value social media network. Leave the cat photos and selfies on Facebook. :)
I like the fact that on SteemIt, I get useful content. Not pictures of what people's pets had for breakfast. You can LEARN here. You can be INFORMED here. People care what gets posted. It makes a huge difference.
