SBD Giveaway! Random Acts of Kindness Contest

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Just last week I came across an truly impressive post by @arsenal49 that was giving away all the steem dollars generated by his post. He wanted to give back to the community in thanks for his past successes. I thought that this was such a great idea that I contacted him to see if we could team up to continue the trend! He has now done several steem giveaways which focus on the generosity and reciprocity of the Steemit Community. This giveaway contest will be the same.

Through conversations on his posts we have mutually decided that instead of focusing on what someone can reproduce through art or words or science, we wanted to focus on the kindness and love of the community around us. Every individual has their own strengths and there are contests out there to showcase those, but ALL OF US can give love to another.

So, for this giveaway we'd like to focus on Random Acts of Kindness.

Tell us your story, whether it be something that you have done for another or something that someone else has done for you. What we would really love to see is users going out into the world and performing these acts of kindness for others and then reporting back to us here. It doesn't matter whether you do this for another person in the real world or online, here in Steemit or elsewhere on the web. We are trying to promote love and the interactivity of our fellow Steemit users.

All steem generated by this post will be distributed between the entrants. That's right! EVERYONE who submits to this post will receive a payout!

Your entry can be either a picture or written, but we want to hear what happened and how this impacted those involved. Please try to explain your picture with at least a few sentences of context. Entries in all languages are welcome! (Sorry that this one is only in English, we will do better next time!)

Here are the "rules" to follow:

1. Resteem and upvote this post.

We are trying to reach as many of our fellow Steemit users as possible and to spread the love of the Steemit community, so resteeming this post is a must. We have to get it out there. Also, the payout for the entrants is generated by this post, so the more we can raise, the more we can give!

2. Create your post and then reply below with the link so that everyone can easily read your stories!

3. The original idea from @arsenal49 was to promote the community of Steemit to it's new users, therefore we will only be splitting the payout between those entrants who are 50 and below.

If you are higher and would still like to post your story, WE WOULD LOVE TO READ IT. We are simply trying to keep the Steemit community thriving through the interactivity of it's new members. If this contest generates a massive amount of payout, then we will distribute it to all entrants and really share the love!

So, go out and be nice to others! We want to hear about it!

Many thanks to @arsenal49 whose original posts are the inspiration behind this one.
Thank you!

UPDATE: I have found several users who are giving away the steem from their posts and I wanted to add them in to this post to share them with you! Thank you to the following:
@looftee presented the original "What Does Steemit Mean to Mean?" question, prompting Steemit users to evaluate the other reasons that they are on Steemit. HERE is the link to the update post.
@dracosalieri Is giving away all the steem from the thank you post HERE as a thank you to 100 followers. Congratulations!
UPDATE: Found another Thank You giveaway HERE from @aashishkandel. Keep up the good work!

Even though I do not qualify, I gave it a resteem anyways. This is an excellent idea and gained you a follower.

I am amazed at the response to this post. Thank you for sharing and supporting the giveaway!

Speaking of Random Acts of Kindness... Every now and then I give people a Copper Bitcoin in a sealed plastic container... They look really nice... I tell them it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay... But for the most part, it's a Conversation piece...
@pocketechange

That's great! And, it helps promote the cryptocurrency lifestyle.

@jacobts I am so grateful to read your post and appreciate the loving words you share here. @virtualgrowth is one of my very favorite people here on Steemit. He blows my mind with his generosity and kind heart -- it's a rare find to experience love in such flow. I'm excited to meet him one day in person. Thank you both for sharing your hearts. What a refreshing post!

@virtualgrowth is a pretty awesome guy, always willing to drop in and say hey, and share a personal story relevant to the situation.
He tries quite hard here on steemit and glad to see someone take notice.

I actually stumbled across your "Namaste Thank You Letter" to @jacobts before I ever started the giveaway! You both are inspirations, thank you!

Welcome!

Hi, this is mines, the indifference of others is what leads to us not being kind to each other.

Thank you for your post. The world is better if we help each other, keep on!

This picture always touches me because it demonstrates good will with actions rather than words, likes, upvotes and other indirect ways of helping one another. Not my picture though.

We must help a wanted

Thank you for the picture, I do LOVE this one. Do you have a personal story you could share? Nothing is too small, remember you never know what little act can make a big impact on others.

While I was living in NYC, every Friday, I used to buy a 6 pack of beers and head to Central Park where I would drink them with a random homeless man. They would share their stories and insights and I would just listen most of the time.

The wisdom I have gained from these people was unparalleled.

Please share those stories!! :)

Agreed, you can never judge a book by it's cover and you will never know what someone can teach you until you ask! Thank you for your post.

I have seen this picture before and it touches my heart each and every time. It's a perfect example of what Random Acts of Kindness is about.

I've read the rules, i don't apply.

Still, my random act of kindness(one of:) ),
On one of my cycling tours a woman was calling for help along the river. Seemed the dog, just a pup trainée of a blind girl, the other woman was the mother, was drowning in a sewage/sluissystem next to the river. she had called the firedepartment, but it was critical. So i enter the pipesystem, climbed down the installation onto the riverlevel, picked up the, indeed drowning dog. Climbed up, reached the dog up with one arm, standing on slippery pillars, with the sluissystem about to open any time.
Then balanced my way back up on the 15cm wide construction. Refused all money the woman offered, cause my shoes were wrecked and cycled off. And left a happy blind girl with her new pup.

You are a true hero in my book, nin0000!!

Thx Dottie!

All lives are precious. Thank you for the story.

Indeed,
true story btw and not your average river, but Scheldt river, containerships and all sorth travel there.
Still happy about it!

Doing what makes you happy is the only way to live. Sounds like a terrible river. I grew up next to one similar: when it rained you could watch the dead animal carcasses float by. Terrible. That dog and little girl (not to mention her mother!) will remember you forever. Well done!

Yep,
Some things i remember,
stopped a few people who were passing without looking and probably got hit by a car.
Walked into a rape when i was little in the park, the girl ran away. Saved a woman at night being harrased with torn of clothes, as a result i got a knife threat, but all ended well.
And my first cat, i saved out of a bag, thrown into a puddle.
Cheers!

You are an inspiration! Keep up the good work!

This an excellent idea and will strengthened the spirit of community here.

I appreciate the comment, thanks. I have found that the spirit of community here on steemit is so strong already and I wanted to be sure and share it with others! I hope that everyone has a positive experience here on Steemit, and if they don't...well then maybe I can change their mind ;)

wow a lot of kindness generated from here, I don't know if I am deserving , but I will let you judge on my recent post 2days ago hehe @jennswall ;-) https://steemit.com/steem/@fernwehninja/1000-post-and-craving-for-1000-more-and-more--celebrating-this-milestone .
-I wish there are a lot of people like you and @arsenal49. The world could be a better place. Thank you for the opportunity. ^_^ UV and RS! Have a great day ahead ;-))

Thank you for promoting the steemit community! You have done a lot of work for us. Hopefully I will be able to open the rewards to all submissions. If you are interested, I am looking for volunteers to translate future giveaways into their native languages. I can speak several different languages myself, but my writing is not so good and online translators are not good enough. If you are interested I would really appreciate having you translate the next giveaway so that we can share the love with even more people! The world is a very large place, and not everyone speaks english.

That's pretty cool project!! ;D What languages you have in mind? I am starting to learn Dutch Language because my husband is Dutch ;-) That's my focus for now. I am not really also fluent in English hence my native language is Filipino hehe :D

Well the Filipino would be a great start. I will try to post next week in French and Spanish, myself, but I am not a native speaker of either although my family is French.

Thank you! I just need a response from @rainbowsky to be sure that they want in ;)

yes, count me in if I make the cut! thank you @bellekaur

Everyone makes the cut, that's the beauty of the idea. Share the love!

Thank you! I put it all down to the great community here on Steemit. I have been inspired by many people here, notably @arsenal49 who let me steal his idea and @looftee and @jacobts who are a daily inspiration with their kindness.

I will not tire of saying thank you @Pfunk!

He helped me to register an account on the Steemit!

It's very kind deed, I think!
Now I convinced my friend mr GreenGo to join us, too.
He is very pleased that he follow to my advice!
Many, to whom I recommend Steam, do not believe that self-expression can be really expedient & beneficial ... Perhaps their time has not yet come? But I continue to convince them =))
I want to contribute to the development of the Russian-Ukrainian community at Steemit
I created a community server https://discord.gg/Me6FSHn
But so far no one has joined my channel... Need more time!
I plan to popularize the community in the Russian-speaking circles of Steem and Golos

Thank you @Jennswall, @Loftee, @Arsenal49 for you good deeds!

Have nice day!

Thank you for spreading the Steemit Community. A good deed indeed!

I can take part in SBD Giveaway?

I will do my best to include everyone! Unfortunately I have no real steem myself so all the giveaway money comes from the post. Time will tell!

Ok. Understand
Thank's!

I am running a small giveaway with my latest post and would truly appreciate any support.
