Steemit: The Answer to Social Media Monopoly

in steemit •  last month

Social media giants like Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube have been in the headlines in recent weeks due to their banning of radio host Alex Jones.

Whether you are a fan or not of Alex Jones is not what this article is about. This article is also not an opinion piece on Alex Jones, or if the social media companies were correct in banning him. What this is about is the power of those companies to silence speech, and to ban individuals with no accountability. And the problem will only continue as these platforms gain ground on their competition.

In what has essentially become a social media monopoly, Facebook and Twitter have increasing control over the social media landscape. Many are wondering if it is possible to find an alternative. Every time I hear this, I immediately think of Steemit.

Together, we can make Steemit the next major social media platform. Using and promoting this platform could be the answer to this issue, and could help you retain your right to freedom of speech. If the market moves away from Facebook and Twitter, they will be forced to change their policy and allow for free expression once again.
