Las Plataformas basadas en la Tecnología de Contabilidad Descentralizada conocidas también como blockchain, son actualmente sin lugar a duda la evolución en las Redes Sociales; algunas de ellas como: Steemit, Whaleshares y Weku, se basan en el pago con tockens nativos, que pueden ser en algunos casos vendidos, transferidos, comprados o intercambiados, estos pagos o tokens son obtenidos producto de las recompensas por los contenidos publicados en estas plataformas. No obstante, este no es el único atractivo del que gozan dichas plataformas, también permiten la interacción a través de aplicaciones de mensajerias que le ofrecen a los usuarios que se registren en ellas, salas de chat donde intercambian información variada y permiten la promoción de sus publicaciones como es Discord.

Aparece en 2016, una idea de Ned Scott y Dan Larimer, los mismo creador de Bitshares, una de las Redes Descentralizadas en las que se basa Weku, donde se combina el incentivo de recompesas a través de una criptomoneda llamada Steem, cotizada en su sitio web como un Smart Media Token (SMT), que pueden ser cambiados en casas de cambio como Poloniex, Open Ledger, OpenLedger, Bitterx o ShapeShift, en las que también podría comprarse STEEM con otros criptoactivos.
Entre las ventajas de Steemit, aparte de las recompesas que se puede obtener en criptomoneda por publicar , también como es tecnología de blockchain, es transparente y brinda mayor seguridad, hay libertad para publicar los contenidos dentro de la legalidad y lo mejor de todo es que es una red social descentralizada.
Particularmente, opino que una desventaja que tiene Steemit, es que las publicaciones que se hacen no pueden ser eliminadas de esta plataforma, en el mejor de los casos la podemos editar y ocultarlo de la interfaz.
