Reddit can't last.. (seriously) Soon to be replaced by Steemit and the STEEM blockchain.

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I'm not kidding. Reddit is stale dated. It's worse than twitter or facebook. It's already falling out of the sky.

First and foremost, I'd like to congratulate reddit.  You did well during the years you were alive.  You were the go-to-place, like an open forum, for anyone to discuss anything, for the longest time.

Did you know, in 2014 this site claims that reddit had 174 million unique visitors from 186 different countries?

What happened?

Reddit got complacent.

AND

Reddit is losing numbers in my opinion, not by the hundreds, but the thousands.

Reddit is yesterday's technology.

Don't worry they say, reddit is hiring, they have a paltry 28 jobs available (as of the time of this post) to keep their foothold as an internet leader in social media and conversation.

Why is Reddit yesterday's technology? Quite simple.

First of all, their whole system is clunky, ugly, and 2001 visual of what the internet looked like 16 years ago:

I call that blech text.  It's horrible looking. That's what a reddit subredit is suppose to look like? ugly text? No images, just a big long linear TEXT block of ugliness?

AND

They are accused of censoring (and legitimate accusations in my opinion)...

AND

Reddit on September 6, 2011 became a division of Condé_Nast, who is that you say?  Just a for-profit company that is a mass media company founded in 1909 that still is in business today with known brands like Vogue, GQ, Wired, Vanity Fair, and more.

So, is it any wonder to you why not only is Reddit's interface "yesterday's technology", but why they also censor posts with their for-profit corporation?

Honest prediction: Reddit dies slowly. Steemit takes over in the next few years.

That's just the way it is going to be... :)

You get to tell your kids about this.. and your kid's kids.

Remember when AOL use to ship CD's in the plastic of every printed magazine?

NO? YES?

AOL (America online, I should qualify who they are, cuz they are no one these days)... use to do that..

When is the last time you bought a "printed magazine" at the store, and wanted the "CD" that was attached to it?

As I said, reddit is yesterday's technology.

You just get to witness how this all plays out.  Get ready.

P.S. Message to the reddit staff. Don't get upset.  This is the internet of things. It changes.  What I do recommend you do, is start up a steemit account and start funnelling some of your reddit paycheck into steem power now. Be part of tomorrow.  Today isn't going to last.

P.P.S. Steemit isn't the competition either. STEEM itself is a blockchain that lives and thrives on its own that is very unstoppable. Even if steemit were to die, another version, with a different domain pops up in its place feeding from the same chain. You can't kill blockchain technology, that's the beauty of it.

Good post. You reminded me of AOL too. Lord I hated them. The walled garden approach to the internet and cancelling your subscription was a pain!!

It was a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour on the phone to "beg" AOL to cancel your account, because they were losing numbers so fast. I'm glad someone remembers it. :)

correct @intelliguy .. see now more people joining the steemit
