Does Steemit need a UI design change?

I'm going to be honest. The immediate feeling I got from the website was - this doesn't feel legitimate. Would it make sense to invest in a new UI? Any suggestions on parallels other than Reddit to borrow from?

    I totally agree with you and i have wrote posts in the past talking about the same - more user friendly user interface and also a phone app (not a third party app.)
    I think this will make steemit much more popular and will make users that are not such experts with the computer (like my mom ad dad) to use steemit more
