• Egypt will be at the world cup for the first time since Italy 1990. Star man, Mohammed Salah bagged a dramatic winner to seal the ticket for the Pharaohs against the Diables Rouges (red devils) of Congo in Alexandria.

• Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary will be 45 years when the Pharaohs trade tackles at Russia 2018. Should he feature, he would surpass Faryd Mondragon’s record as the oldest player to have played in the world cup. The Colombian goalkeeper set the current record at Brazil 2014, being 43 years and three days.
