The Steem Dream

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Many people dream of hitting the lottery and living out their days in sins of the flesh. I have similar dreams but not so much hitting the lottery or sins of the flesh, I dream of experiences. A little backstory about my recent path. I work as a property inspector. I make my own schedule, I go to work when I want or not at all. Currently I don't have a license to do my own thing but it's what I'm working towards because the pay is a lot greater when you have your own business. I've fallen in love with this lifestyle!

I currently work fifteen hours a week and it covers all of my expenses but not the way I dream. I dream of being able to work ten hours a week, have a little homestead with some livestock, and be comfortable. The idea of being rich is something I know I'm headed towards but materialism isn't one of my vices. I enjoy the simple things.

The American culture has trained us to frivolously spend our savings on things that don't matter. I'm a huge fan of capitalism but I think of all the pointless consumption I've done and realize my priorities have changed away from this needless spending. I thank my upbringing that I was influenced by so many foreigners that showed me experiences are much more valuable.

Enter Stage Right - Steemit.

Steemit has become quite an addiction to me. It's combining things I love to do and monetary value. I love to write and share who I am and have fun banter with people in the comment sections. Some of my highest paid postings I've acquired were sharing a story from my life. All of the monetary value that I gain goes to my dream.

"It's not about me and my dream of doing nothing. It's about all of us!"
-Office Space

Steemit affords people with the greatest gift for the lucky few that are successful enough to become a Steem Whale. It allows people to be paid to be themselves.

I hope you enjoy my posts and if there's anything you guys want to see in the Southern Arizona area, feel free to comment. This community feels more like a family every day. Steem on!

woow! 15 hours a week!! That is amazing! I recently quit my job because I was very overwhelmed , I worked 55 hours a week plus couple hours on weekends... It seemed like I didn't have a life... After I quit the job I found out about Steemit and Golos and I'm so happy !! I'm pretty addicted and love these 2 platforms. I know I have to find a job pretty soon, since my saving are almost gone, but Steemit saves my life right now...
Good luck to you with your license ! :) awesome post!

Yes indeed. Find something you enjoy even if it doesn't pay well. I love being a property inspector because I have to work so little, I get to be on the road a lot and help people but I'm definitely underpaid.

Good luck in your ventures as well!

Welcome to STEEM!! you are going to love this place.
I am also new here, check it out (:

Welcome to Steem. Good luck.

Hi great post & I like 10hr wk idea!
tip use TAGS carefully or bots will get you!
don't use intro more than once & don't use steem* unless your posting re platform stuff!

BTW Your password created 5 keys for you. By default you probably logged in with the "master" key. Not a good idea as it enables access to your $$$. It's better to log in with your Private POSTING key.

@Richellis I hope you realize we saw what you did and there will be retaliation.

What did he do?

He down voted a bunch of people to protect a YouTube Scammer:

I am not going to try to convince you of anything, you can just look at the facts and come to your own conclusion.

I do appreciate though that you took the time to ask what he did
