Definitely one of the major upsides to Steem is the belief (and reality) by the average Joe that you can acquire a valuable cryptocurrency simply by authoring or commenting. Where Bitcoin still appears to be technical and complicated, almost any literate individual can understand that they can play in this arena quite easily.
With free training already provided by WordPress, Facebook, and Instagram on blogging, posting, and commenting, new users can hit the ground running and get paid for what they already do: express their opinions, review their meals, showcase their vacations, and interact with like-minded or opposing views, at will.
The coolest think about Steemit, may be that it makes crypto approachable by regular folks.
And I can't think of many other blockchains that have achieved that, can you?
