Once upon a time, we had forty votes that all counted the same, so effectively I could just click away--which I often did without even reading the post (some people I knew I'd love their content anyway, and others, I just clicked because it was easy). Since voting power didn't decline for a really long time, that was fine.
Now, though, voting power declines almost immediately. This shouldn't matter--my vote is now worth something like thirty times what it was--but that somehow makes me want to conserve my clicks, almost as if I got to KEEP that money if I didn't click on anything. Which is stupid. But there you are.
I thank you for the reminder that my votes don't count for anything if I don't use them.
Haha thanks for letting me into your mindset, perhaps this is on other peoples minds. Surely though, if you do truly enjoy an article you'll give it an upvote?
Sadly I must agree with you. People get greedy with their upvotes and while on other social media that is of no value to anyone but it's developers and investors people hit like on everything that's just plain dumb or silly or both.
This pisses me off over the top. I have over 100 followers but where are they? Must be some of those that are just hoping for me to follow back and give them free likes for their posts that lack any sort of value. Thanks for this post, I know we're not alone.

I do understand that, but it's particularly when people use words like they "love" the post etc, surely that's what they should be saving their upvotes for. Posts they love. It just looks like they're saying that to every post to try and get followers without even reading/watching the content.
That's almost like you're suggesting my content is dull :D haha I know what you mean but that's my point. The whole idea is quality content, so don't bother with the "dull" stuff.
