Perhaps you may want to make a post on utopian.io about your suggestions @utopian-io is for rewarding open source development projects like busy.org and the development of many projects that work with the steem Blockchain not just steemit.com

I too agree there needs to be the features you are talking about. Most people are using work arounds like discord app for direct communications. These are still the early days.
