Soybeans .. pros and cons

in #steemit-health7 years ago

German nutrition expert Fieke Unger says that soybeans have great health benefits. It is free of cholesterol and is an excellent substitute for meat for people who follow a vegetarian diet.

One hundred grams of soybeans contains 40 grams of protein, about 20 grams of fat and seven grams of carbohydrates, otherwise soy consists of water.

On the other hand, German nutritionist Brigitte Arens pointed out that soybeans are not without disadvantages, as it contains the so-called "anti-nutrition", such as "phytic acid", which limits the absorption of the body of metals.

Soybeans contain secondary plant compounds that can damage the intestines, so nutritionists advise not to provide any alternative foods from soybeans to infants and young children.

In addition, soybeans, like other legumes and meat, are not suitable for gout patients. They lead to high levels of uric acid in the blood, causing trouble to the point of experiencing a severe gout, so it is better for gout patients to abandon beans Soy.

Nice post @steemmaster. I just wrote a similar post on Protein nutrition which you might also find interesting https://steemit.com/health/@bunny26/protein-powders-and-shakes-all-you-need-to-know

Some good points, I would like to add that soy is high in an estrogen mimicker and isn't good for men over all.

I was just volunteering at a farm. They had recently switched to feeding some of their animals with soy. They have always had problems with mice getting in their feed. Guess what? The mice don't touch the soy. That tells me something.
I don't eat soy unless it has been fermented and then only occasionally. Traditionally it was only eaten after fermentation.
