The NASA introduced a new heat shield like umbrella opening the door to landing humans on Mars. This new technology stores and folded the umbrella inside smaller rockets, opening handle-up in space to save more payloads as they touch that planet’s atmosphere. Its shape is like umbrella that permit it to save the more space than current heat shields.

The ADEPT heat shield hardware on bench in lab at the NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley. It could be used at big scales, for something as grand as human Mars explorations.
