Hunter's comment

You might have heard the massive sale of GitHub a couple of hours ago... Sad days for Github in my opinion.

Microsoft is going to destroy it

The good news is we have GitLab!

GitLab

Used by more than 100,000 organizations around the globe
The latest news is 1000's of projects are leaving Github for gitlab. This platform is so much more beautiful Just look at the images.

Get your best ideas into development.

"Whether you use Waterfall, Agile, or Conversational Development, GitLab streamlines your collaborative workflows. Visualize, prioritize, coordinate, and track your progress your way with GitLab’s flexible project management tools."

Making Gifs

Making Gifs in Gitlab is simple, so if you love gifs check it out.
Of course, there is more to just gifs what more do you want from an OpenSource platform that you can create your ideas in open course so others can contribute.

Devs are flooding to GitLab amidst Github Microsoft acquisition rumors Might want to take your Steem Projects to GitLab.

Pros:

  • Open Source (Hooray!)
  • User friendly
  • Beautiful user interface
  • Various useful tools

Cons:

  • None that I can think of

Thanks for this amazing hunt, I was too upset about GitHub and this made my day!

Pros:

  • Gitlab has too many features, nice UI/UX compared to Jira and its competitors, it has good wiki support too
  • The user interface is great and I really enjoy the CI/CD features. In addition we use the issue tracking, which has been helpful and easy to use.

Cons:

  • The web interface tends to be a bit annoying and slow, also its configuration is difficult for new users
  • Search functionality is not refined. UI is very complex and hard to understand. Supports only Git version control system.

Pros :

  • It is open source and free
  • Supports markdown
  • Has a web code editor
  • Has Custom Git Hooks

Cons:

  • Can't create create new branches from issues
  • Doesn't have a Built-in Container Registry

Sure it is possible to create branch from an issue; open the issue and at the bottom there is a green button where you can checkout a branch.

Pros:

  • Being open source everyone could contribute to this project and help to improve it
  • Very good alternative for Github users

Cons:

  • none I can actually see

Pros:

  • Opensource
  • CI integration
  • Easy to import from github

Cons:

  • There was an incident where gitlab lost some repository data

Pros:

  • It's free. That means that users can have an unlimited number of private repositories. This is the community version, and users will have to pay if they require the business version. The latter adds some additional features to the basic functionality that improves interaction with online tools, workflow and server administration, among others.

  • GitLab operates under an open source license.

  • Error tracking and web-based code editing.

Cons:

  • Relatively slow interface.

  • Frequent technical problems with repositories

Oh, i am not an developer but i know that most projects are processed on Github and most Steem Projects are developed there, but really unfortunate to know this news but in my opinion you gave an good news too by advising about the Gitlab and 100000 organizations is not less and yes the interface is also really cool and i hope that now developers will redirect towards the Gitlab. Thanks for sharing this post with us and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂

Pros:

  • Open-source software
  • Functional and simple set up
  • Have tons of built-in features
  • Very transparent
  • Flexible and great for projects
  • A good way to meet people from other parts of the world

cons:

  • Quite slow interface the would take time from switching to other

Pros:

  • Git UI
  • Manage your issues/tickets
  • CI pipelines for linting/testing/deploying easy to setup

Cons:

  • None
