"Off With Their Heads" Syndrome and Steemit #IntroduceYourself Posts

in #steemhelp6 years ago (edited)

"Off with their heads," cries the Queen of Hearts. "Off with their heads!"

The Queen of Hearts is the primary villain of the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. She is a short-tempered monarch who is easily offended. And when her subjects make her agnry, she screams ...

"Off with their heads!"

It seems that many people in our community, and especially new users, are listening to the whims of the Queen of Hearts when they post photos of themselves. This is especially evident in our dearly beloved #introduceyourself posts.

Don't listen to the Queen of Hearts. She gives bad advice.

This is what I am talking about.

And there is one very simple solution!

Drum roll please! HORIZONTAL IMAGES!

The easiest way to prevent the "off with your head" problem on your introduction post is to use a horizontal image (instead of a vertical one).

There are other factors that can be considered for improving your Steemit images, but hands down this is the easiest piece of advice I can give you that makes the biggest change in first impressions.

It is important to note that the first image in your post is used as the thumbnail for your post, so make sure that it is always horizontal. Have a lot of vertical images? No problem, but just don't use them as your first image.

If you don't want to listen to my advice, then "Off with your heads!"

Not in the real world, but definitely in the Steemit world.

Great observation! And solution.

@matthewdavid, thanks for stopping by. Not all problems are hard to solve, but we rarely know how to fix problems until we have faced them.

Hope all is well.

LOL! Great post with a simple solution to a "headache" of a problem for new users... unless they are trying to leave a little anonymity to their intros?

Loving the puns! Is your husband on Steemit too? If so I think I can across one of this stacking posts.

Yup, that's him :) Maybe the "5 kids and one's called Freyja" gave it away :)

I'm actually really surprised how many people on here I've met in my short time that do have 5 kids!

I was wondering where you were going with that. Good advice for new minnows. Do the intro photo sideways.

@coldsteem, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

Yesterday I was welcoming new members to Steemit, and I noticed that many of our newest minnows had "their heads cut off."

From what I can tell sideways photos and videos are always better than vertical for any type of social media posts.

Very nice and toughtfull.

Thanks for stopping by!

Very impressive solution given by you @sumatranate.
I have a doubt. Please clear it. I joined steemit in November 2017. Can is post introduceyourself post now.

@irrahul, thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate that you interact with me through comments. That means a lot to me.

It is recommended that you only use the introduceyourself tag only 1 time (some people abuse this and include the introduceyourself tag in every post).

If you have not yet introduced yourself, I think that you should do it now. That way everyone can get to know you better.
