Creating a Circle of Life - And Why You Should Too

in #steemexclusive4 years ago

Hello Steemians!

I hope you are doing well over there, otherwise, you just have to hang on! Brighter skies are coming your way!

In this post, I would love to talk to you a bit about communities on Steemit. In particular, communities that promise to take care of each other and show each member their support. Why vote-for-vote isn't bad for the eco-system and why you should do it too.

We just launched the @steemingcurators. In our community, every member gets upvoted by the entire community every single day. The only thing our members need to do is stake some SP. No need to delegate, send, or anything, it just stays in your account.

We are having a minimum 500SP to enter, as this is atm the only way possible. Also, we feel like there are multiple ways to get to that 500SP. Leasing is one, buying it is another.
Powering up STEEM is the same as investing in yourself. By compounding your earnings into STEEM POWER, you earn every day a little bit more. And you can give every day a little bit more. This is where it gets interesting.

By Powering up more STEEM, you raise your levels in our community, thus receive a higher % upvote. Levels are described in our introduction post and in our FAQ.

By creating a circle, we now vote each other on 1 post a day. People with less stake get smaller percentage votes, but because they get also votes from people who have more SP then them, they earn a lot more than before.

This way we create a basic income for every member of the community. Our members are incentivized to Power Up more because higher SP AUTOMATICALLY means higher daily payout. Its a no-brainer.

I got the question if we ONLY vote for posts posted on Steemit. While this is technically not feasible to check for every member each day, we also don't care if they crosspost. If it is your own content, why wouldn't you make the most of it??

Another question was if we only vote for members. No, we plan to keep at least 8 25% votes from the trail to vote for other steemians too. This is not only because we want to attract new members in our community, but also because some are already in other communities, and we want those too.

> My question, what do you think about creating circles of life for your community? Would you promise them votes every day in return for their support? Would you scratch other members their backs, so they scratch yours?

Always yours,
@ciska

Hi @ciska

"Creating a life cycle - and why you should too" It's great that you take this up. What is most important is that people become aware of what Steem Power is and why they should use PowerUp. I have had several posts on this before, but unfortunately it is not easy to get many enough to do it. One of the reasons for this is that there are an incredible number of people on this platform who actually need the money the system can give them to survive in their daily lives. Previous SPUD competitions were involved in building it up so that many understood what power up would mean. I am very happy that @kiwiscanfly has taken on the role of running SPUD again.
And it is now very nice to see you as a Sponsor for SPUD4STEEM

But as @stef1 says, we have been doing this for many years but commenting on friends and today in the world of xpilar community and we also provide upvote outside of our community.

In our community, every member gets upvoted by the entire community every single day. minimum requirement 500 SP

I don't think that's the right way to do it, because if everyone votes on everyone every day, not all people will read each other's posts and it will get out of control after a while.
You will probably have some rules for that, but I think you should consider this well. You are also a witness and should think about it too

Hi! Thank you for your time to reply! I really appreciate you joined the discussion.

You are correct, creating awareness that powering up your STEEM is the same as investing in yourself is crucial. And indeed many Steemians rely on this tiny income to support their family. It is a shame that we live in a world where there is such a big difference in income and life standards.

But that is the reason the rich get richer and the less fortunate get less. People who have, can compound their earnings and earn more. Invest. Poor people spend it all.

It would be awesome to create awareness about that, and the @knitrias project is doing fabulous in that. No powerdown, only powerup. Those users will benefit from that move in the longer run. I love that.

Voting outside the community is indeed essential if you also want to grow and spread the love. Let users know you care about them and hopefully they join the community and feel welcome.

The 500SP minimum to get a certain daily upvote is to encourage people to stake. We vote for members with less than 500 too, but not every day. They get an upvote if they comment and vote on 3 others members of the community.

I am not really sure if the behavior is different if they don't get upvoted once a day. Some will never read a post here. Some read them all.

Our project is absolutely not 100% how it should go, it´s created overnight because we felt the urge to help. We need to tweak it and make it better. Its the first week and we are testing the waters.

Thanks!

Hi @ciska this is something already existing for a long time, many people who I met about 3 years ago until now we still communicating and supporting each other with word and upvotes.

But I also remember the time when some people on Steem who now in Hive called it "circle of jerks" and even made some people to Power Down and stop posting, withdraw their investment and left.

Supporting the community users is essential and we are doing it in our community "world of xpilar" as well as the Artists who posting in #art-venture tags.

I don't get why anybody would be against helping each other out. Maybe because they didn't belong to that community and were jealous of their payouts... I don't know.

A vote for vote makes sure people keep powered up, because they don't want to lose their income. The reason I didn't contact the staked users to do vote for vote, is because I want everybody to have the feeling they can belong to a circle too. Yes, the World of Xpilar is probably my most favorite community! KEEP STEEMING

Hello @Ciska!! Knitrias send me in her name to express opinions on your project!! Certainly there have been many groups of this nature in different forms. Delegating only, trailing only, or one of the most common because of the profitability: delegating and trailing at 100%, the later in my view is the commonly known as "Circle Jerk", they only vote on themselves.

The nature of a project must set the goals and, as Xpilar says, the basic rules of the operation. I find your project very important to fill some of the opportunities that existed before to participate and invest in a project that make company to a previous decision to keep posting, it's always good to set a basic review of the materials the trail is voting to encourage quality.

I think your conditions to participate are accessible but I think the target of the project could be more for users that already have those 500 SP or more. In my view, leasing or buying is not a good idea for members to join the trail, if I'm leasing or buying Steem to Power Up, is because I want to curate by myself for better reward for authors (projects, communities) or for better curation rewards for me (investors). For some people with less than 500 SP it will be simply impossible to participate.

I've seen you are inviting small accounts to join and be active. Maybe you can track somehow those users and depending on their record give them big support to finally join the trail. One contest here and there or other giveaways in Steem Power could be helpful.

As for the Knitrias Project we are delegating to up to 10 Members with 200 sp to vote at least 50% of the voting capacity between Members, the other 50% is free to distribute. We are setting a limit in the time of permanence as Member or the amount of Steem you need to stake to be considered a Graduate Member, at this point there will be other forms to participate. We are setting a minimum of 60% Steem Power of the liquid rewards, this is difficult and will be but the main goal of the Members in the Project is to reach that minnow level, after that they will have more possibilities to swim!!

Thanks for inviting us to the discussion, @Ciska!!
Best vibes for projects and life!!

Thank you @ciska for this great post :)

Humans were made to rely on each other. We have been circle-jerking since the beginning of time to survive, why not now?
