He came to bring sword and not peace.

We find in the scriptures one of the many teachings where the Lord Jesus Christ was preparing his Apostles and disciples with the reality they would encounter later after he was resurrected and returned to the kingdom of heaven to be light and come out of the world. The scriptures declare that Jesus Christ is the light that illuminates all those who are living in this world and whoever followed him would not walk in the darkness but would follow the light that life gives them. When we are born again and become children of God, we become a light for all those who are lost because through us Jesus Christ would enlighten all who are without the true light. He also taught us that we are the salt of the earth since one of the main benefits of salt is conservation and flavor. These were the two main qualities that Jesus Christ thought when he said that we are the salt of the earth since the power of the salt of conservation, flavor and seasoning enabled us to preserve and keep the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord prepared his disciples and us so that we would know that we would immediately enter into conflicts with all those who were living in our own home, becoming themselves our own enemies, even being rejected at times for having accepted the teachings of Jesus Christ because these teachings would not be in accordance with their beliefs and their own rules.

"I did not think that I came to bring peace to the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and the enemies of man will be those of his house. He who loves father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and the one who takes his cross and follows after me is not worthy of me. He who finds his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it Matthew 10: 34-39 "

Today many give a misinterpretation of this statement of Jesus Christ applying these verses as God does not love the whole world and less to those who are lost in their sins this misinterpretation of the scriptures always comes from the Gnostic teachers who incorrectly teach the Love of God towards all humanity. Those of us who know the scriptures know that in this world one day Jesus Christ will establish peace when he establishes his kingdom and reigns in the millennium for a thousand years but at this time he had not come to establish a world peace but he had come to face the darkness and defeat them on the cross of Calvary therefore everyone who followed him and kept his word would be facing darkness and there could be no peace because we would be at war against the satanic forces that are operating for a time on this earth **"Ephesians 6 : 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."** Therefore he did not come to bring peace on this earth when he came as man but his word would be in direct war against these spirits of darkness who impose their authority and power in this world for a mpo because that time is about to end for them. These same forces of darkness that oppress and control those of our own home and family members who have not been born again will make them oppose anyone who becomes light and comes out of Jesus Christ in the midst of darkness.

The Lord when he said "I have not come to bring peace, but sword" is speaking in figurative language otherwise other passages of scripture would be contradicted and we know that Jesus Christ never contradicted any scripture and less his Apostles and disciples. The Word of God has the power to change the life of any person since it is inspired from the very heart of God. The word of God is like a two-edged sword that penetrates to split the soul and the spirit and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart for that reason he said that he had not come to bring peace but a sword because when we use the Word of God God is like a sword that penetrates and reveals the true thoughts and intentions of all those who have not been born again and when they are discovered, dissension and enmity between our own family members are created as their sins are seen in the light of the Word and they rebel against the truth **"Because the word of God is alive and effective, and sharper than any sword of dosfilos; and penetrates to split the soul and the spirit, the joints and the marrow, and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart Hebrews 4:12"**Jesus Christ wanted us to be aware that when we use the Word this will bring will, conflict, enmity, immediately the spirits that manipulate and govern by sin the life of everyone around us.

Later I went on saying that anyone born again who was not willing to be persecuted, despised, criticized, hated for following him to the contrary would love being in peace and well with those in his house was not "worthy of Him" if he loved his life more than he was not "worthy of Him" ​​in other words if we give more priority to them or to our own life than to our Lord, we are not worthy of him even if we are willing to lose our lives for the cause of the gospel we are not worthy to be called children of God. It is not easy sometimes for us to endure the cruel opposition of those we love being rejected, despised, criticized, mocked for following Jesus Christ, but if we want to be worthy of Him we have to love Him above all those who love a suffering contempt of them and with our love we will be witnessing that we are really children of God that even if they despise us and become our enemies we love them and we want them to also participate in the eternal life that Jesus Christ gives to all those who believe in Him.

In the scriptures we can find that Jesus Christ passed similar situations with his own family his own brothers did not believe in Him and this had to bring within the family nucleus of Jesus Christ dissent and disagreements for what he taught of himself **"Because not even his brothers believed in him John 7: 5"**The Biblical story tells us that the Lord did not want to walk in Judea because the Jews were looking to accuse him so he could kill him.
