The Benefit Of Possessing or Having Jesus In Your Life 2.

Reading passage:- Genesis 39:7-9

Yesterday we talked about the benefit of possessing God in your life which we stopped at verse 6 and I promised to complete it someday,today is that day.
So toady we will be completing what we started yesterday.

Now I begin from vs 7 let's see it from different version of the bible.

KJV:And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

ESV:And after a time his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, “Lie with me".

AMP:Then after a time his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph, and she said, Lie with me.

Now from the first three versions above let me ask a question what is that thing you are casting your eye upon could it pornography,masturbation,sex etc,stop and ask yourself because what ever you cast your eye upon is what you will need,at every cost even when it affect your spiritual life. That is exactly what Portiphar's wife did, the bible says and she cast her eye upon Joseph she didn't stop there she wanted to lie with him. But I thank God for Joseph who was sensitive enough to say No.

NIV:and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!”

Now from this version, Portiphar's wife took notice of Joseph,again what is that thing that you are taking notice of? Could it be indecent dressing,smoking etc and you want to join,be careful of what you are taking notice of,because Portiphar's wife did not just take notice of Joseph but she actually wanted to go to bed with him.

MSG: As time went on,his master's wife became infatuated with Joseph and one day said, " Sleep with me".

I love that of the Message Bible it says she was infatuated,now let's stop here and ask what is Infatuation?

The dictionary defines it thus:

****"Marked by foolish or unreasoning fondness"****

Or

****An unreasoning love for or sexual attraction****

Now this is what Portiphar's wife had for Joseph a mere feelings that will not even last after sex.
The bible made me understand that Amnon hated his sister Tamar so much that it quenched what ever love he had for her,the hatred he had for her overshadowed the love he had for her (2nd Samuel 13:1-21)
That is to say it was just a mere infatuation not the Love I know about,because God is love and love is not selfish,it doesn't want to hear me,me at all time to the detriment of the other partner.

This is exactly what
we fall into,simply because I young man or woman says he/she loves you, you get carried away not knowing that they are only infatuated by you, no iota of True love.
Portiphar's wife harboured this unreasonable feelings for a long time but perhaps since she didn't have the chance to express it she had to calm down when she had the slightest chance she used it but thumbs up for Bro Joseph who was sensitive enough to refuse her outrightly.

Now in vs 8 and 9

Joseph refused to sleep,lie or go to bed with her, he had to remind her that even though he knows that there was none greater in the house except him and that his master handed everything to him without even checking back (vs 6) but never left her in his custody.
He was wise enough to know that since he controls everything In the house that is Master's wife was not among the properties he should control, he respected Marriage.

But today because you are in a big Position so you think you can actually use it to oppress others or do nasty things. For the fact that someone trust you, doesn't give you such guts to betray their trust by stealing from them,or sleep with their children, wives,husband, housemaids(male and female) etc.

Let us be careful least the pleasures of today deprives us of the Joy of tomorrow or in future.
